Wild Cat ROAR!
Steuart W. Weller Elementary Weekly Newsletter
A Message from the Principal:
October 27, 2024
Dear Weller Families:
If you are interested in applying for free or reduced school meals, please use this link,
Applying online means that the request will be processed more quickly than mailing the application to LCPS.
We encourage you to apply. In addition to free or reduced cost of school meals, there are other benefits for which families might be eligible. Please use the link above for all your needs.
The next two weeks are atypical! This week includes 2 days of school for students (Monday, October 28th and Tuesday, October 29th); two days for parent teacher conferences (Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st); and then a holiday in celebration of Diwali on Friday, November 1st.
Monday, November 4th and Tuesday, November 5th are professional days for teachers. We will see students on back at school on Wednesday, November 6th!
Thanks SWES PTO, parents, and Weller Staff for the fun Fall Festival! We hope everyone had a good time.
Do not forget to order your holiday pies from the SWES Mom's Apple Pies Fundraiser.
Respectfully yours,
Julia Burton, Principal
We Need Your Help Supporting Our Staff:
We want to support our staff by showing how much we appreciate their hard work. Let's "Stock the Staff Lounge" with snacks and drinks to help refuel teachers and staff as the second quarter approaches. Click HERE to sign up and see item drop off details.
Help us fill the staff lounge with treats to fuel our teachers and staff for the second quarter of school. Donations may be dropped off at the main entrance of Steuart Weller on Wednesday, October 30 between 7:30 am - 3:00pm or Thursday, October 31 between 7:30 am - 10:00am. To make other arrangements for donation drop off please email Mrs. Hasenei.
Veterans' Day Concert
SWES Veterans Day Concert: Monday, November 11th at 12pm in the gym. Featuring all 3rd graders. Families are invited to submit information about the veterans in their family to Mrs. Schneid. We want to honor all veterans.
Student Birthdays:
Just a friendly reminder that LCPS has a policy that students refrain from bringing in treats (such as cupcakes) for their class to celebrate their birthday. We encourage prizes, such as a pencils, squishy balls, etc in place of food items. At Weller, we pride ourselves in modeling our motto - "Each Unique...All One Family"! When purchasing items, please remember to have enough items for the entire class. Individual invitations for a private party are not allowed to be distributed at school.
Watchdog Parents:
We are officially launching our "Watchdog Parents" program for 2024-2025. What is this wonderful program you ask? This is an opportunity for parents to become role models for our students. You will have the opportunity to work with classes, students, and your children's classroom throughout the day. You pick the full day or half day to commit your time working with the Wild Cats. Click here to find out more.
