Welcome Back!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the principal of Robert M. Shoemaker High School, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our guardians and students to the Grey Wolf family.
I am excited about the experiences we will have next year. The pride of Shoemaker is our students, and I can assure you the staff is ready to have them back in the classrooms on Monday, August 15, 2022.
Our theme for this year is “Raising the Bar”. At Shoemaker, we strive for excellence in everything we do and have high expectations for our staff and students. I look forward to celebrating with you the many accomplishments our students will have during the 2022-2023 school year.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the front office at (254) 336-0900.
Thank you, and Go Grey Wolves!
Latisha Williams
Principal

Transportation Information
Clinic Information
Students who received immunization letters from the clinic to update their shot record must bring this information to the clinic before school starts, so their schedule will not be delayed.
School Lunch Information
Update: School lunch is not free this year, so please complete the Meals Application for assistance. Breakfast will continue to be free of charge this year. https://www.killeenisd.org/meals_application
Closed Campus Information
Students are no longer allowed to leave campus for lunch unless they are a senior who has earned CCMR. Page 8 of the Student Code of Conduct states, "Once a student arrives at school, he/she is not permitted to leave campus at any time during the school day without administrative permission, except students who have completed their school day. Students who are enrolled in a work cooperative program may leave campus when their instructional day is completed. All KISD schools are closed campuses for lunch, with the exception for seniors who have earned their College, Career, and Military Readiness indicator and has parent/guardian permission."

Schedule Change Information
If you start the school year and notice an error in your schedule (Example: You're a freshman with Algebra I on your schedule but you took and passed Algebra I in 8th grade), please go to the counselor's office to put in a schedule change request. If you have a "hole" in your schedule (Example: You don't have a 4th period), go to the counselor's office during the period you are not enrolled in the class (Example: 4th period).
IMPORTANT: Schedule change requests are to fix errors, not changing your mind about what class you want to take. You should have verified your course requests in May. Per communication sent out in April 2022, the campus master schedule and teacher hiring decisions were made based upon student course requests; therefore, beginning of the year schedule changes will only be considered to correct an error in a student's schedule.

Policies to Help Our Grey Wolves on the Path to Success
Dress Code
Policies in the Student Code of Conduct, to include the Dress Code Policy, are implemented to promote student achievement through the creation of a safe and inviting environment for students and employees. Please review the dress code policy and allow it to guide the selection of your child's back to school dress. Dress Code and ID expectations begin on page 39 of the Student Code of Conduct:

Electronic Device Policy
KISD prohibits the use of personal electronic devices during the school day. It is addressed on page 11 of the Student Code of Conduct and is also below for your reference. Please also review the SHS policy attached.
Policy from the KISD Student Code of Conduct (page 11):
"Telecommunications/Electronic Devices (201): Students may not display, turn on, or use a cellular telephone or other telecommunication device (including Smart Watches as appropriate) on school property during the school day* (as defined by the published starting and dismissal times for each campus). (See *Note)
(Exception for high school students only: Cellular telephones may be used outside the school building during the student's designated lunch period only.)
Violators are subject to having the device confiscated by a teacher or other school official for a period of time deemed appropriate by the principal (which could extend through the end of the semester or school year) and are subject to disciplinary action. Repeat offenses may result in the loss of the privilege to possess such devices at school.
There are certain entertainment/electronic items (including but not limited to electronic recording devices) which are strictly prohibited from the classroom, but which are subject to principal, director, teacher, or sponsor approval in other settings, i.e., cafeterias, commons areas, playgrounds, school buses, or on school-sponsored trips. Entertainment items that are used inappropriately are subject to confiscation, or the bus driver may submit a Student Code of Conduct Violation Report.
*NOTE: The district recognizes that students are involved in an expanding technological world and understands that students learn in different modes. Therefore, campuses may choose to permit use of various electronic devices (ex. headphones, iPad, or tablet) in classrooms and commons areas during the school day, 11 in accordance with rules established and enforced at the campus level. (See your campus Student Handbook for further details.) Neither the campus nor the district assumes responsibility or liability for loss or damage to a device or for the unauthorized use of the device."
