Mission
We will transform the learning experience within our inclusive community.
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hobby and Hobby Magnet Family,
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and trust in the way we managed the recent "Secure" Response protocol. As a reminder, "Secure" is the step we take before a full lockdown, where everyone moves inside and we lock all doors just as part of our safety procedures. Your cooperation during this process is greatly appreciated, and it allows us to keep our school community safe and calm in these situations.
Additionally, I want to acknowledge the improvements we're seeing with parent pick-up. With the ongoing construction, I understand it can be challenging, but your patience and cooperation are helping us make this smoother each day. We’re committed to working together to ensure this process continues to improve, and your role is invaluable.
Upcoming Events:
- Football and Volleyball Scrimmages: Check the Hobby Middle School website for specific dates and details.
- Flex Period: Starting Tuesday, September 10. This is a 30-minute intervention/enrichment period built into the school day. Please note, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the bell schedule will change, and lunch periods will be 30 minutes later.
Hobby MS Lingo:
- Flex: A 30-minute period built into the school day for intervention and enrichment.
- Hobby Hang Out: An after-school event where students can "hang out" with their friends from dismissal until 6 PM. The cost is $5.00, and concessions will be sold. All proceeds will go toward inventory for the Hobby Hawk Pride Store, where students use their Purple Pride Bucks to purchase items.
Thank you for your partnership and understanding as we navigate these times.

Notes From The Nurse
Illness at School
If a nursing assessment determines that a child is ill, possibly contagious, injured at school, or needs further evaluation or treatment, the student will receive first aid, and the parent/guardian will be notified. We will make every effort to contact the parent/guardian first. If they cannot come for the child, the parent/guardian must arrange alternative care. In an emergency, the student will be transported by EMS.
Absence Due to Illness
The nurse has the responsibility if she suspects a contagious health condition to request that the child be picked up by the parent/guardian and examined by a physician for diagnosis and treatment. In all circumstances, the judgment of the school nurse prevails. Please notify the school of any confirmed contagious illness.
*Please keep all emergency phone numbers updated for our information*

Technology For Students
Chromebook Responsibility
As we begin a new school year, we are excited to continue integrating technology into our classrooms with the use of Chromebooks. The Chromebooks are powerful tools that enhance learning, and they also come with responsibilities. Outlined below are the expectations for Chromebook use to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all students at Hobby Middle School
Chromebook Expectations
1. Academic Use: Chromebooks are to be used primarily for educational purposes.
2. Daily Care and Maintenance: Students are required to bring their Chromebooks and chargers to school each day fully charged and ready to use. Devices should be stored safely in their backpacks when not in use. Students should avoid eating or drinking near their Chromebooks to prevent accidental damage. Decorations and stickers are not allowed to be added to the Chromebooks.
3. Digital Citizenship: We emphasize the importance of responsible online behavior. Students must adhere to the school’s acceptable use policy, which includes respecting privacy, avoiding inappropriate content, and practicing good digital etiquette.
4. Monitoring and Privacy: While the Chromebooks are provided for educational use, please be aware that the school’s IT department monitors all activity on these devices to ensure compliance with our usage policies. Our BARK alert system will alert us of misuse and the student may have their chromebook taken away.
Costs and Repairs
While the school provides Chromebooks, students and parents are responsible for maintaining the device in good working condition:
In case of theft, a replacement device may be issued only if a Police Report is filed and submitted with the campus Technology Support Specialist (TSS). Breakage and misuse of the device will result in payment from the parent or guardian:
Repair Costs:
Device replacement cost $272
Cracked Screen: $100
Missing keys: $25
Charger replacement $13
If a Chromebook is damaged or not working properly, students should report it immediately to their TSS, teacher, or the office as soon as possible.
