Firefly Families,
It has been a memorable week at Alyssa Ferguson Elementary. We had a blast experiencing some new things together.
On Monday, we had the incredible opportunity to witness a solar eclipse! Thanks to modern technology with solar glasses, our students in grades 3rd-5th were able to go outside and experience this amazing event! Our students in grades PK-2nd were able to watch this celestial event via a live stream right from their classroom. What an experience we will all remember for years to come!
Next week we will be administering STAAR to our 3rd-5th grade students. We encourage parents to support their firefly in preparing for the STAAR test by:
- Get plenty of rest the night before.
- Provide a nutritious breakfast on testing days
- Encourage your Firefly to try his/her best!
It is essential for our Fireflies to be present and on time on testing days. If your child will be absent, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
Have a restful and wonderful weekend!
Filled with Firefly Pride,
Carla

Looking Ahead Class Placement 2024-2025
As we approach the end of this academic year, planning is already underway for next year. One of the most important tasks in preparing for the next school year is creating an effective learning environment for every child. This requires a great amount of time and thoughtful consideration of each child’s individual needs. We are committed to creating well-balanced groups that are, by intention, designed to ensure the success of every child.
Our process for creating classes each year involves the grade level and special program teachers, our counselors and specialists, and the campus principals. In addition, we encourage parents to provide a special “lens” into their child’s learning needs. Although completing this form is not a requirement, we appreciate your input.
Please complete this survey (one per student) to share your thoughts regarding your child's academic strengths and areas for growth, as well as any social, emotional or physical needs that you believe will help in creating a successful year of learning. Although it is not feasible to meet with parents to discuss class placements, all information shared will be reviewed and considered when formulating class lists. Class assignments will be available during our Meet and Greet in August.
Special Note: Requests including specific teachers or placement with specific students will not be considered. All information will be reviewed and considered when formulating class lists.
We look forward to partnering with our families to promote a healthy and productive learning environment for every Firefly student!
This form will close on Friday, April 19, 2024.
