Panther Update - Family Edition #18
January 10, 2025
A Note from the Principal...
Hello All,
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope your winter break was filled with joy, rest, and time with loved ones. As we return to school and kick off the second semester, we’re excited to continue partnering with you to support your student’s learning and growth.
A new semester is a chance to start fresh, set new goals, and embrace new opportunities. Whether it’s improving study habits, diving into a new subject, or building stronger friendships, every day offers a chance to grow. Let’s encourage our students to approach the semester with optimism, determination, and a mindset ready for success.
Our teachers and staff are here to support your students every step of the way. We’re committed to helping them reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an essential part of our school community. Together, we can make this semester a positive and rewarding experience for all.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Here’s to a fantastic second semester!

Car Rider Line
Drop Off Zone Reminder
We have a large drop off zone between the two orange cones set up at Door 1. Please do your best to pull forward past the front door. This allows at least four or more cars to unload at the same time. Sidewalks are treated to allow students to slowly, yet safety get into the building.
Student Handbook Feedback
Every year, we gather input from various stakeholder groups about possible revisions to our Student Handbook. Please consider reviewing our current Student Handbook https://www.hseschools.org/about/student-handbooks and offering feedback for enhancement; these suggestions could be revisions, removals, or additions.
If you have suggestions, please feel free to submit them at the links provided below. All feedback is due by Friday, January 24. Thank you for your assistance in this important process!

FHS Parent Academic Planning Night
FHS Parent Academic Planning night will be held on January 15th
This night has been specially designed for all parents of students currently in grades 8 through 11, and it actually combines three different events that we’ve historically run – 8th Grade Parent Night, AP & Dual Credit Showcase, and our Course Preview Night – into one, big night.
We will begin the evening with just 8th grade parents at 6:00 pm, and then we invite parents of current 9th, 10th, 11th graders to join us starting at 7:00 pm. The rest of the night is three separate break-out session windows of 30 minutes, where parents can pick and choose sessions that most interest them. The schedule for the night:
- 6:00 – 6:50: 8th Grade Parent Presentation in Auditorium
- 7:00 – 7:30: Breakout session window #1 (parents of current 8th-11th grade students)
- 7:40 – 8:10: Breakout session window #2 (parents of current 8th-11th grade students)
- 8:20 – 8:50: Breakout session window #3 (parents of current 8th-11th grade students)
View the program for the evening to see the different session topics offered during each window. I strongly encourage parents to check out the program in advance so you can make a game plan for how you’ll plan the night. Hard copies of the program will be available at the event.
Additionally, throughout the night, athletic teams will have coaches & team representatives available for questions and grab-and-go information in Café B, and our various performing arts programs – band, orchestra, choir, theatre – will have sponsors available in Aux Gym 1. We also will have teachers & program sponsors for our various dual-credit partners and CTE course offerings in our CCA cafeteria throughout the night.
We believe we’ve put together a program that will benefit all families, so we hope you consider joining us at FHS next Wednesday. Go Tigers!

Helpful Tips & Links from the Counseling Department
Conflict resolution tips..
Another extremely important way for your child to learn and understand conflict resolution is by the adults in their lives modeling those appropriate techniques that were covered this semester. When they see us fail and succeed, they start to see that it is possible, even when it is hard. Child Mind Institute
Withdrawing Student from School
If your child is withdrawing from Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate/Junior High School, please notify the Counseling Department at least two days in advance of your child’s last day. Withdrawal forms must be signed by the parent/guardian.
