Calendar Approvals
The Board approved an amended school calendar for the 2024-2025 school year and approved the 2025-2026 calendar. Both calendars include a week-long break for Thanksgiving and move fall conferences to late October. On both calendars, winter and spring breaks are aligned with Stevenson High School.
iPad Refresh
The Board approved the purchase of iPad 10s for about 585 students and staff. iPads are updated for students entering Grades 1 and 5 in the fall. Staff iPads are being replaced after six years.
Approval of Daniel Wright Principal
The District 103 Board of Education approved the appointment of Jessica Groncki as the next principal of Daniel Wright Junior High School.
Mrs. Groncki is the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning in Kildeer Countryside School District 96. Mrs. Groncki has over 14 years of experience as a teacher, team leader, literacy coach, assistant principal, and assistant director. She will start in the district on July 1, 2024.
Special Education Audit
District 103’s Student Services Department received high marks in a special education review that was presented to the Board by TJ Consultants: Advancing Special Education, presented by Drs. Judy Hackett and Tim Thomas. In summary, the consultants highlighted that District 103 does an exemplary job addressing the needs of learners who are experiencing difficulty. They went on to say the district’s special education systems provide high quality programming and services for students with disabilities. The consultants said this is seen in the “strong evidence of a high performing district that exceeds state performance indicators and state averages regarding students with Individualized Education Plans.” The administrative team will be reviewing the recommendations and developing a plan for continued improvement.
Staffing Plan
A draft of the staffing plan for the 2024-2025 school year was presented for the Board’s review. The plan is created utilizing the current and projected enrollment, current programming, and future needs. The board will approve the staffing plan at a future meeting.
