Message from Dawn & Cam
Over the past couple of weeks, we've has so much fun coming together as a school community to celebrate the joys of the season. Our Winter Concerts, led by the talented Mrs. Moran, were truly spectacular! It was heartwarming to see so many families join us in honouring the hard work of our students and staff. We’re also incredibly grateful for the generosity of our families who contributed to our Food Bank and clothing drives, making a meaningful difference in the lives of others in our community.
As the holiday season approaches, we encourage everyone to embrace this time for rest and connection. Whether it’s gathering with loved ones, enjoying quiet moments, or simply recharging, we hope this break brings joy and togetherness to your family. A reminder that school will be closed from December 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025. Classes will resume on January 6, 2025, and we look forward to welcoming our students back for a new year filled with learning and growth.
Wishing you and your loved ones a holiday season full of warmth, happiness, and peace.
Dawn, Cam & the SAM Staff

SAM Chess Club
Mr. Letendre has launched the SAM Chess Club this week, and it has been a HUGE hit with our students! The level of interest has been overwhelming, and we are thrilled to see so many students eager to engage in this timeless game of strategy and skill.
To support the club’s growth, we are on the lookout for any chess boards that families might be able to donate. If you have a chess board gathering dust at home, we would love to give it a new purpose here at SAM!
Donations can be dropped off at the front office in the new year. Thank you for supporting our students’ love for learning and play! ♟️
The Chess Club is open to any students in Grades 3-6 on Wednesday's at lunch recess in the Bear's Den.
Spirit Assembly
Each month at our SAM Spirt Assembly we will recognize the incredible contributions of our students, staff, and volunteers who help make SAM an amazing school to come to every day. The SAM SPIRIT Award is a monthly themed award where teachers choose a few students from their class to recognize for demonstrating our SAM SPIRIT qualities. This month, we recognized our Holly Jolly students who always find a way to bring a smile to your face. Congratulations to our SAM Spirit Award Winners!

COMMUNITY NEWS
Reading Buddies
Reading Buddies pairs children who could benefit from a little support and guidance with their reading with a trained teen Reading Buddy volunteer. The goal is to help the young buddy improve their confidence and develop a positive attitude toward reading.
We are offering two in-person program options:
Tuesdays, February 18 - April 15, 4:00-5:00 pm (No class March 25)
Wednesdays, February 19 - April 16, 6:30-7:30 pm (No class March 26)
Another option is our Bookable Buddies program, a shorter option with adult volunteers.
We encourage teachers to pass on the message to anyone who could benefit from this program. The application form can be found under the School Age Programs tab on our website. Parents are asked to please apply for Reading Buddies by January 17, 2025.
