Mountain View Weekly Update
August 30
Back to School Night
On behalf of the Mountain View Middle School staff, we look forward to your attendance at Back to School Night, scheduled for Thursday, September 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Back to School Night affords you the opportunity to meet with your child’s teaching team to learn more about their respective curricula, policies, procedures, and day-to-day routines. Our School Nurse and members of our Child Study Team will be available in the Wellness Area.
This year, Mountain View Middle School will also welcome Phyllis L. Fagell, a certified professional school counselor and author of Middle School Superpowers - Raising Resilient Tweens in Turbulent Times.
Please see the attachment below for more information.
Announcements & Updates
- Reminder: All back-to-school forms, documents, and contact information updates must be completed via the Parent Portal by 4:00 p.m. TODAY. Please see the August 16 communication from Mrs. Toth for specific details.
- Attention parents: On Tuesday, students will be given a flyer from SchoolCraft with a unique QR code where you can preview their school picture. Ordering instructions are also included.
- Mountain View Middle School has established a Chain of Command to clarify and simplify the process for contacting the school about a specific concern or matter. Please refer to the Chain of Command as a guide for determining who should be the primary contact based on the nature of the matter/concerns.
- Important reminder: If you need to drop an item off for your child during the school day, please leave the item (labeled) outside the front entrance and ring the intercom to alert the Main office. To minimize disruptions, unless the item is urgent, the Main office will not interrupt instruction to inform your child that an item has been dropped off. He/she is responsible for checking the front table.
- Cell phones and Smartwatches must be turned off and stored in lockers during the school day. Students who have devices on their person will have them confiscated. Devices will be returned at the end of the school day on the first offense. The second offense will result in a parent having to pick up the device. Subsequent offenses will result in detention and in-school suspension.
- The first meeting of the Mountain View Parent Council will take place on Friday, September 13. For more information, a list of grade level representatives, and meeting minutes, click here.
- Local Girl Scout Troop 6072, which includes several Mountain View alumni, has created a video on Pedestrian Safety. The video will be shown to students as part of a "Good Morning Mountain View" broadcast. It can also be viewed here: https://youtu.be/1Ml81YWESAY.
- In the coming weeks, Mountain View Middle School's extracurricular clubs and activities will begin. Meeting dates are posted to the Mountain View website calendar and daily bulletin (available on the mobile app). For an overview of the various offerings, please view the attachment below. Note that this is not inclusive of HSA enrichment clubs.
