A Message from the Principal...
The majority of this publication will be a repeat of the information on testing. There is only one more item we need to share with you. While there is no “opt out” for the actual testing, there is an “opt out” on the information that is collected by College Board. Should you want to see what type of information they are asking for, you can click here: Personally Identifiable Information Collected. If you do not wish for your child to fill out the optional information that is gathered, you can fill out the “Opt Out” form provided right below this message and return to Dr. Hyliard in the main office by Tuesday, April 8.
If you have any specific questions about the exams, you can feel free to reach out to me or Dr. Hyliard.
In this newsletter, we will cover the following:

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the PSAT and SAT testing season this spring, we want to share important information regarding your student's participation, specifically concerning the Optional Information sections of these tests.
Understanding the Opt-Out Option:
The state has introduced an option for parents to opt out of their students from providing Optional Information during the PSAT and SATs. This Optional Information helps in personalizing your student's experience with college readiness programs and can be beneficial for their future educational opportunities. While it is your right to opt out of providing this information, we encourage you to consider the advantages of opting in.
The Value of Providing Optional Information:
Providing Optional Information allows your student to access resources and programs tailored to their interests and educational goals, including the BigFuture School™ mobile application and the Connections program. These tools are designed to enhance students' college planning and scholarship search processes. Choosing to provide Optional Information can significantly impact your student's journey toward college readiness. It offers them a tailored experience with access to tools and opportunities that align with their academic interests and career aspirations. While we fully respect the right to opt-out, we encourage you to consider the long-term benefits of participation.
How to Opt Out (If You Choose):
If, after careful consideration, you decide to opt-out, attached to this email is the PSAT/SAT Optional Information Opt-Out Form. Please complete and return it as instructed should you prefer that your student does not participate in the Optional Information section. We aim to make this process as seamless as possible and are here to support whatever decision you make.
Keeping Options Open:
For students without a signed Opt-Out form, there will be an opportunity to provide the Optional Information. This decision rests solely with the student and their family. We respect every family's choice and are committed to ensuring a supportive testing environment for all our students.
Should you have any questions or need further details about the testing process or the Optional Information section, please feel free to reach out. We are here to support you and your student in making informed decisions about their education.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and your continued support of our educational programs.
Sincerely,
The Curriculum Department

Student Shout Outs!
Student Shout out: On Saturday, the Choir Boosters hosted the Spring Swing fundraiser. The best part of the night is watching and listening to the students who have volunteered to provide the entertainment. Specific shout out to our student with the stage name of Clint Kelly who has dropped his own song on YouTube called “Crazy.” It’s pretty cool. Check it out.
