From the Principal Desk—
Hello Hilltopper Families!
I hope this message finds you well and excited as we kick off a brand-new school year at Park Elementary! We’ve had a fantastic start and it was wonderful to see so many of you at our PTO Back to School Bash. The event truly set a positive tone for the year ahead.
As our students met their teachers on the blacktop yesterday, the energy of reconnecting with friends and familiar faces was palpable. A special thanks to our PTO for beautifying the blacktop—it made the experience even more memorable for all of us!
This year, we’re embracing our "Topper Up" theme, and our students are already bringing it to life. They’ve smoothly transitioned into their new routines, with teachers welcoming them into classrooms that reflect our theme. During our Welcome Back Assembly, students were introduced to Park staff and learned that TOGETHER, HILLTOPPERS CLIMB TO THE TOP! Be sure to ask your child how they can earn Topper Tickets.
The first few days were filled with engaging activities designed to help students connect with each other and set the stage for a successful year. It was especially delightful to see them organizing their classrooms and personal materials, fostering a sense of responsibility and community. Visiting the café and playground, I loved watching our students make new friends and reconnect with old ones. The smiles were contagious!
As the year progresses, our students have much to look forward to, including a diverse range of educational adventures, creative projects and collaborative experiences. I sincerely appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us to educate and nurture your children. Open communication is key to our partnership, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Lastly, we’ve implemented a new car rider procedure to enhance the safety and security of our students and staff. Please familiarize yourself with these changes to ensure a smooth experience during pick-up times. You can find the new procedures detailed in this newsletter. Thank you in advance as we continue to fine tune the process to make it as safe as possible.
Thank you for your continued support in making these first days so successful. I look forward to working together to make this school year an unforgettable and enriching experience for all our students.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee

Park Clinic Corner
Hello and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
We are so excited and fortunate to take care of your children at Park this school year. Please remember, we value our relationship with our parents and consider our relationship a partnership. Please include us, when appropriate, on medical and health communication. For example, if you send your teacher a message (email or dojo message) regarding medical information, it is best to include us to keep us in the loop on medical/health concerns regarding your child.
Below are a few important items to review:
1.) Immunizations are required in the school setting. Immunization information from your health care provider needs to be sent to us and available before 8/28/24 in order to avoid exclusion from school. Please call with questions regarding this and thank you to all who have already sent us this information!
2). Vision and hearing screenings will be conducted in the near future. If your child saw an eye doctor over the summer, he/she does not need to be screened again. Please let us know this and will document this. Also, let us know if the child wears glasses or is in the process of getting glasses.
3.) If your child has a medical plan or needs medication at school, a new plan and new medication order are needed every year at school. A doctor or nurse practitioner has to fill out this information. Again, please call the clinic with questions regarding this.
4.) Please send an extra change of clothes in your child's bookbag in case a need arises for them to change.
5.) Please be mindful of not sending your child to school if the child is exhibiting signs of illness (temperature, productive cough, vomiting, for example). We want to avoid clusters of illnesses.
**Our number one goal is to keep your child in school and be an encouragement to the child at school. We will focus on healthy habits and promote perseverance in health! If we recognize your child has been coming to the clinic too frequently or missing school frequently, we will call and discuss with you to identify how we can help and try to figure out a pattern behind the visits.
Thank you for partnering with us this school year and please call us with any questions!
Sincerely,
Sarah Park BSN RN sarah.park@chardonschools.org
