PCMS Weekly Update
October 11, 2024
Good Afternoon PCMS Families!
We hope everyone is doing well and had a great week! Today signals the end of a fun and exciting Homecoming Week for us! The best day by far was when we dressed up like students and them like us! For the fellas, it was Crocs, hoodies, a hat, 1 earpod (hidden by your hood while it was 88 degrees 🥵), and all of their words like “sigma” and “skibidi” … All. Day. Long!! It was fantastic - and I don’t think I’ve heard them say those words since 😜!! We finished up the week today with lots of ORANGE and BLACK ... love that PIRATE PRIDE!
And finally, a HUGE THANK YOU to our 7th grade families who were able to make it to our Pastries with Pirates event on Wednesday! We had a great crowd in attendance which we love so thank you all for sharing part of your morning with us!
We hope everyone stays safe and enjoys the Homecoming Parade and Game tonight. GO PIRATES!!
Score of the Lost & Found: 38 after Week 8 😜!! Our number went down by 1! Parents have been coming in checking out the items and it had helped keep our numbers down. Let's keep this up!
💻 School Tip & Reminders
We need students to bring their Chromebooks with them every day that school is in session. Please make sure that they are also charging them every night. Their Chromebooks are essential to their learning experiences here at school. The library has very few loaner Chromebooks to pass out on a daily basis so if your student has an insurance claim filed against their Chromebook, please take care of those claims as soon as possible.
🧡 This Week's Character Dare
The CharacterDare is a heart workout, inviting students and adults to practice kindness, patience, and respect with themselves and others. These school-wide challenges encourage staff and students to put character into action, fostering personal growth and positively impacting school culture.
This Week's CharacterDare is: Tech Timeout Take (see below).
We invite families to join us in these challenges and look forward to the positive impact they will have on everyone.

Upcoming MOCSA Training for 8th Grade
8th Grade Parents: Please review the letter below regarding upcoming training provided by the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). If you do NOT want your child to attend this presentation, please complete THIS FORM by Monday, October 14.
MOCSA’s sexual harassment presentation defines sexual harassment as unwanted behavior of a sexual nature. The program is conversation based and discusses that each person gets to decide if something is “wanted’ or “unwanted” for themselves. This programming discusses that “sexual in nature” means harming someone based on one’s body, gender, or sexual orientation. Students will learn the types of sexual harassment (physical, verbal, non-verbal, and internet) and what to do if someone is being sexually harassed. Students will lead the conversation based on what they are already seeing and experiencing and the MOCSA educator will help facilitate conversation in a safe and structured way. Finally, students will work to identify safe peers and adults that they could talk to if they or someone they know needs help.

🏴 Pirates ROCK Character Trait for OCTOBER: Responsibility
Pirates R.O.C.K. Each month our community focuses on a specific character trait and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits: Self Confidence, Pride, Responsibility, Citizenship, Compassion, Individuality, Self Control, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, Honesty, and Cooperation.
October's #PiratesRock trait is Responsibility: being accountable for your actions without blame.
