Recycling in action!
This month, we launched our new initiative to reduce food waste at Northern by introducing reusable plastic trays in the cafeteria, marking a significant step in our commitment to sustainability. We're already seeing a positive impact, and our students are doing a great job with this new program! In early March, our Grade 3 students participated in a grant-funded field trip to the RI Resource Recovery Center, where they learned firsthand about recycling and waste management. The experience was both engaging and educational, reinforcing the importance of sustainability. On March 17, we took another big step by starting to recover surplus food, compost scraps, and ensure proper recycling in the lunchroom—further supporting our community's efforts to reduce waste and promote eco-friendly practices.

Northern is proud to be a Title I School!
What Parents Should Know About Title I
Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act provides financial assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of at-risk children. The goal of Title I is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state’s challenging performance standards.
What will Title I do for my child?
The Title I program will provide your child with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom when needed. Title I schools will identify the students at their school who need the most educational assistance based on the criteria that the school has chosen. Students do NOT have to be from low-income families to receive Title I services.
