What's Happening in Choir ~
We had such a fun Pirate Jam concert! We were very proud of all of the choirs and the soloists. It's always one of the most fun concerts of the year. Also, thank you to everyone who helped with organizing the silent auction and to all who purchased items! There was some really great stuff out there!
Upcoming Events:
This week we need parent helpers for the concession stand on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We cannot run the stands without parent help so please consider clicking one of the days and signing up to volunteer for that evening's game.
Tuesday, October 22nd - 5:30pm - 7:00pm - A Cappella Choir rehearsal/clinic
Thursday, October 24 - A Cappella Choir to sing at UT Dallas Invitational Concert with selected high school choirs and world renowned, professional choral group Chanticleer.
Saturday, October 26 - All State Round 2 & 9th/10th Grade Honor Choir Auditions
For students who advanced to the Round 2 All-State Choir audition & 9th/10th grade students who have chosen to audition for the 9th/10th Grade Region Honor Choir. Auditions will be at Boswell HS. All audition music and practice tracks are located on Google Classroom. Google Classroom code is q7szxa4 for all-state or 9/10 honor choir materials.
Click the parent chaperones link to let us know if you are available to help as a chaperone on Saturday 10/26!
I am aware that this is also the same day as the Homecoming Dance. I know that the 9/10 Honor Choir auditions will be finished by lunch time, and I will request an early audition time for those singing in the Round 2 audition if their parent is going to come and pick them up from Boswell HS so that they can get ready for the dance. Students will need to communicate their need for an early audition time. Parents may come pick up their child, but all students must be signed out with one of our parent chaperones and you may only sign out your own child.
Monday, October 28 - FALL CONCERT
Our next full choir performance will be on Monday, October 28. The students will wear their choir t-shirt and jeans with no holes. The concert will begin at 7:00pm, auditorium doors will open for audience seating at 6:30pm. Students will stay after school for rehearsal and we will feed them prior to the concert. We hope to see you there!
Thursday, October 31 - ANNUAL PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST!
On Thursday, October 31, we will have our annual pumpkin carving contest. Choir students who wish to participate may bring their already carved pumpkin to the choir room when they arrive at school. We will have a panel of judges who will vote and award 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. And, we will just admire their creativity all day! Pumpkins will need to be taken home with the student who brought it on Thursday, October 31 because we can't keep them up here over night. Only battery operated lights are allowed, no real candles. We have had some really artistic and creative pumpkins in the past, so we are looking forward to see the awesome carvings this year!
