It’s hard to believe, but our final week of the school year is here! We’ve had a truly wonderful year of learning and growth. Our students have come so far, and we’re incredibly proud of all they’ve accomplished. Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us and for your partnership and support throughout the year.

Our last day of school is Tuesday, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with Field Day on Monday! Please review the Field Day letter for important details. Students should come prepared with:

• Sunscreen

• A refillable water bottle

• A towel

• Wear gym shoes

• Consider packing a change of clothes

The forecast looks perfect for a fun-filled day of outdoor and water activities!

As summer begins, we encourage families to keep up the momentum of learning—especially with reading. The Berwyn Public Library Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to stay engaged. A flyer with details is included below.

Reading with your child at home builds vocabulary, improves comprehension, and strengthens the parent-child connection. Just 15–20 minutes a day can make a big difference. Make reading a daily habit—whether it’s your child reading to you, you reading to them, or taking turns.

In addition to reading, we encourage you to limit screen time and enjoy summer in other ways—like visiting the Irving playground, which will remain open for families.

We wish you a safe, restful, and joyful summer. School will resume on Thursday, August 21st. If you need anything before then, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Our Principals of the Day—Mr. S Squared, Ms. B, Mr. T, Ms. P, Mr. D, and Mr. C—proudly presented an award to Daniel in 1T for demonstrating determination, one of our Portrait of a Graduate characteristics. We’re so proud of all the progress he’s made in reading this year!

We’re thrilled to announce the installation of a brand-new native pollinator garden at Irving School! Thanks to a generous grant awarded to our PTO by Wild Ones West Cook, and the hard work of our amazing Garden Club led by Mrs. Daugherty, this beautiful and educational space will soon be in full bloom.

To celebrate and extend the learning beyond our campus, all students will be bringing home seed packets to help create their very own pollinator gardens. These take-home kits also include educational materials provided by the Metropolitan water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) to help families learn about the importance of supporting pollinators in our environment.

Thank you to all who made this possible! Together, we’re growing something wonderful — for our students, our community, and our planet.
