Principal Message
Stay in the know...a few reminders:
~ Upcoming Bond Referendum: Please, please, please take the time to vote for the upcoming bond referendum. Early voting is OPEN, so you can vote at any point, but sure to vote on or before November 7, 2023!!!
~ Temperature chart: You likely know snow and colder temps are on the way! Please reference the temperature chart below and send kiddos with the needed gear. Your help with this is needed!!!!
~ Snow and flu season are just around the corner! In preparation, here are two important resources that are available on the ISD77 website for your review:
Flu Information for Families - provides influenza information
Weather Related Information - includes details on where to find out about weather related closings and late starts. Please note the NEW MAPS Helpline: 507-387-6046.
~ Out of the Blue Day: We had our first Out of the Blue Day yesterday! This is a chance for our whole school to celebrate all the great things that happen every single day. Teachers wear blue, so kids begin to know that something might be happening on any given day, BUT they don't know when in that day we will be celebrating OR what we'll be doing! This month it was an all-school, 30-minute recess. See fabuous pictures below! Encourage your child to always be showing their PAWS and being the leaders that we need them to be!
~ PTO Meeting: Due to a variety of scheduling conficts, we will NOT be holding a November PTO meeting. The next meeting will be at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
~ Conferences: These are fast approaching...and will be held on November 14, 16, and 20. The link to sign up for conferences will be in next week's newsletter. We will also be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair during these evening conference nights, too, so be looking for that information to be coming as well. The hours of the book fair will be 3:00-7:30 each night of conferences.
~ Costumes: As we approach Halloween, just a friendly reminder that students should NOT wear costumes to school.
As always, thank you for your support--it matters!

Question 2: A Vote to Update High School Outdoor Activity Spaces
The educational experience is much more than what goes on in the walls of a school. Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) is proud to offer comprehensive co-curricular programming that allows students to engage in high quality athletic, performing and fine arts activities. MAPS is also committed to offering physical education experiences and supporting community youth activity programs that give kids opportunities to learn skills such as teamwork and cooperation.
The greater Mankato area continues to expand its offerings for kids and families, and this expansion has created a need for multi-purpose spaces for recreation, practices and competitions. Watch this short video to hear from MAPS Activities Directors as they explain how outdoor facility improvements at Mankato West and East High Schools address this need.
Question 2 supports the following outdoor facility improvements including:
9 lane track
Multi-purpose synthetic turf
Restrooms, bleachers, lighting, ticket booth, concessions
There are two facilities questions on the ballot for the upcoming November 7th election – question 2 can only pass if question 1 (safety/security, early learning, learning and wellness spaces) is approved by voters.
Outdoor facility improvements in question 2 will cost $15 million and would have a property tax impact of $2.50 a month for a home valued at $250,000. Learn the facts, and make a plan to vote on or before November 7.
