A message from the Principal, Mr. Derrick Maxwell
Greetings,
Thank you all for a successful parent-teacher conference week! This coming Wednesday, October 24th all 10th grade students will take the PSAT. Please send your student to school rested and with a couple of no. 2 pencils. Friday there will be no school due to fall break. Please continue to log-in to parent portal to check your student’s tardies, attendance, and grades.As always, please let our administrative team know if you have any questions or concerns. We hope everyone has a great weekend! Go Jags!

Taking the ACT?
Students taking the October 27 ACT should report to their testing center (which is most likely Cedar) at 7:45 AM. Students will need their testing ticket, a form of identification, number 2 pencils, and a calculator.
PSAT
ASVAB
The ASVAB will be administered at Cedar Shoals High School November 7, 2018 from 9 a.m. until Noon. The ASVAB is used to assist students with career exploration, identify a potential career path, and to determine which branch of the military you are qualified to enlist in. Please stop by the Counseling Office to sign up. It's FREE.

Thursday, Oct. 25 Loganville HOME 7:30 PMPink Out!
The student section along with Mrs. Zimpfer and Relay for Life would like to invite you to "PINK OUT" Loganville next Thursday Night. All proceeds from the Official Cedar Shoals Pink Out shirts will go to Relay for Life. Our student section will be dressed in all Pink, and we would love to have you join us (if only in spirit and shirt color).
You can pick up an official Pink Out shirt in the JagXchange Thursday all day before the game. We will also have some shirts for sale at the gate for the game.
Student Clubs and Organizations
Humane Society Club will hold a meeting Wednesday, October 24th at 3:40 in A109. Please see Ms. Martin if you have any questions.
First FCA will meet October 19 at 8:00 a.m. in room B208. If students have any questions the can contact Mr. Chatmon or Coach Ray.
HoPe Club will be hosting a Pot Luck dinner on Thursday, October 25th in the Jag Center. Please see Dr. Perez Rhym if you have any questions.
Mobile Dental Van
Blood Drive
The Blood Drive will be Tuesday, October 30th from 8:30 until 2:00 p.m. in the AB200 commons area at Cedar Shoals High School. There is always a need for blood in this area so all of our donations will go to the nearby hospitals. A one unit donation can save 3 lives. You must be at least 16 years old and show a picture ID.

Please see the attached letter from Walton EMC that tells you about the Walton EMC Scholarship. Eleven scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded for 2019. The scholarship application postmark deadline is Friday, January 18, 2019.

2018 Latino Youth Leadership Conference
The 19th annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference will be held on November 10th at Kennesaw State University. Join us for an exciting day full of high energy, inspiration, motivational speakers, practical tips for college, workshops, and a College and Career Fair for Georgia Latino middle and high school students, parents, teachers, and volunteers.

High School Essay Competition
UNG Cadet Scholarship
The state of Georgia funds 42 scholarship each year to Georgia students interested in joining the Georgia Army National Guard and the University of North Georgia Corps of Cadets. This means you can still have a full time job after graduating from college and be a part of the National Guard. Recipients of the University of North Georgia Military Scholarship (UNGMS) are even able to make $30,000-40,000 during their four years of college as a Cadet. This scholarship covers room, meals, tuition, books, uniforms, and fees andis worth over $70,000.

The Jack Cooke Kent Foundation Scholarship goes live on September 6th! This scholarship is open until November 20th. What type of candidates are they looking for? Cooke Scholarship recipients are selected from a nationwide applicant pool each year. As a minimum criteria, students must:
Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2019
Intend to enroll full time in an accredited 4-year college in fall 2019
Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above in high school
Receive a minimum SAT total of 1200 or ACT composite of 26
Demonstrate financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. Last year’s cohort of new scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $26,000.
Georgia Business Aviation Association Scholarship
Georgia Business Aviation Association has Scholarship opportunities available for those students interested in pursuing a Career in Business Aviation.
