A note from the principal
Dear Park Brook Families,
PARENT SURVEY
This month I am seeking input from families. I am including yes/no, multiple choice questions, and a form to fill out with open-ended questions.
I am never sure what families will share, but input allows me to know what families want, and allows me to address issues that I may not be aware of at this time.
I will only be able to respond to survey results in the newsletter, not to any individual. I keep the surveys anonymous so families can share what is on their mind. Please feel welcome to send me an email for specific points that need a personal response.
REPORT CARDS
Report cards will be posted by the end of the day tomorrow on ParentVUE. Report cards are a communication tool for families to know how their children are progressing in school. Instead of a good/bad tool, I encourage you to view it as a conversation starter.
- What do you like most about school?
- What is one thing you could do to help yourself become a better reader?
- How do you show kindness to your classmates?
- Tell me about the Brain Boosts in your class, and how you participate.
- Tell me about what you could do in class to help yourself learn more during math.
- Share with me what your teachers would say about how you focus in class.
As we move into the next third trimester of the school year, there are six things that I encourage families to do at home to assist their children with learning.
- Read at home.
- Eat together without the television or cell phones.
- Get 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous exercise every day.
- Get 9 - 11 hours of sleep. (Kids shouldn't have cell phones, iPads, televisions and so on in the rooms where they sleep.)
- Practice math facts.
- Limit and monitor technology.
Sincerely,
Mr. Scott W. Taylor

C-Lab - Ice Sculptures in Courtyard
The C-Lab is part of the TAG (Talented and Gifted) programming. At Park Brook, all students have opportunities to participate in some of the TAG programming. The C-Lab is designed for kids to simply create, not told what to create, but rather they create and use their imagination. Small groups from classes can choose to participate in the C-Lab during recess.
When the weather allows, the C-Lab is moved outdoors for students to create with ice.
All of the responses in this newsletter are anonymous. Please send Mr. Taylor a note via email if you have questions or concerns that you want a personal response to.
Pictures are posted on Facebook, never including student names, so parents can see a glimpse of what is happening at Park Brook.
