February
Delgado's Notes
January was an amazing month! Our students were able to have a little fun in the snow and have some fun showing their kindness across the school community. Our students participated in buddy activities, kindness spirit week, writing activities, and expressed kindness through art! As we move into the month of February our school wide focus will shift to Be Proud. During our monthly meeting the focus will be introduced and ways in which we will approach this topic as a school community. There are several other activities that have been scheduled for this month and I hope that our Frost families will be able to attend. As always we thank you for your continued support!

Important Information
- The district tutoring program is now in session. Parents have been contacted for student participation.
- The use of cell phones (and Smart Watches) are prohibited during the school day. Students are not allowed to place or receive phone calls during the instructional day. We ask that if you need to speak to your child for a personal emergency, please contact the main office. This supports the privacy and safety of all students in the building.
- Please remind students to follow all safety rules on the bus. They should always buckle their seat belts while on the bus and follow the directions given by the bus driver.
- Our 3rd and 4th grade students will be participating in the NJSLA assessment the week of May 13th. Parents will receive more information as we get closer to the testing date.
- We want to keep our car line flowing to ensure that all of our students arrive safe and on time. Please do not get out of the the car to remove your child. We have staff available in the morning to assist. Students should be ready when they arrive in front of the school to get out of the car and enter the building.
- Staff coverage for arrival does not begin until 8:55 AM. If you choose to bring your child (ren) earlier please find a legal parking spot (not the carline) to walk and wait for the arrival doors to open. Parking in the cul-de-sac causes congestion and safety concerns.
- Please adhere to all traffic laws during arrival and dismissal. Please refrain from making U-turns or jumping in front of vehicles in the car line. Safety First.
Mrs. Schwam's Corner
Frost School participated in the Great Kindness Challenge along with 20 million students from 41,103 schools and 115 countries! I am proud to share that our students completed daily kind acts, wrote a book, “110 Ways Frost School Can Make the World a Kinder Place,” worked with their buddy classes to make Valentines Day cards for the residents of Sunrise Senior Living Community, collected Kind Coins for Kenya, and so much more!! Our hope is that the kindness momentum continues well beyond this week!
Please join us for the Frost Annual Multicultural Night on February 22, 2024 at 6:30 PM. Email Mrs. Schwam ASAP if you would like to present your culture at this event.
Nurse Abbruscato's Corner
We are seeing an increased number of students out sick with strep throat infections. Strep throat is caused by Group A Streptococcus bacteria and is easily spread from person to person. Our classrooms and common areas have been undergoing deep cleaning procedures to help stop the spread of common childhood illnesses. We want you to know how you can also help stop the spread of strep throat.
Recognize the symptoms of Strep Throat quickly and have your child evaluated by their Healthcare Provider. What are symptoms of strep throat?
Some of the symptoms may include:
· sore throat
· fever
· stomach-ache
· headache
· swollen lymph nodes in the neck
· red, swollen tonsils sometimes with white patches
· tiny red spots on the roof of the mouth
· decreased appetite, painful or difficulty swallowing
· Skin Infection/Rash
Strep throat is much less likely if there is runny nose, cough, or congestion. The bacteria that cause strep throat also can cause impetigo (skin infection) so it is important to look for a rash as well.
If your child has symptoms of strep throat, consult your health care provider. If your child tests positive for strep throat they should stay home until 24 hours after antibiotic treatment has been initiated AND are able to participate in activities comfortably AND are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. Please report all cases of Strep Throat, COVID, and FLU to the school nurse at donielle.abbruscato@ebnet.org or (732) 613-6853.
