A Message From the Principal
Dear East Elementary Families:
I hope you and your loved ones had a joyful and refreshing holiday break! Our team is thrilled to welcome your students back to campus this Tuesday, January 7th. We’ve missed them dearly and are eager to begin the second semester, continuing to inspire and support their growth and success.
As we embark on this new semester, I’d like to invite you to consider joining our PTO. The PTO has been an invaluable source of support for both our students and staff, and with more parents involved, we can expand the impact of their efforts even further. Your participation would make a meaningful difference!
I also want to remind you of a few important changes that were announced before the holiday break:
1. Breakfast Bags:
Starting this semester, breakfast bags will no longer be offered in the Discovery Center. This change is necessary as the use of breakfast bags has extended breakfast time beyond the tardy bell, impacting instructional time. If your child needs breakfast, they are welcome to eat in the cafeteria during breakfast hours from 7:15-7:45 AM. As always, breakfast remains free for all East Elementary students.
2. Morning Drop-Off:
Beginning January 7th, parents will no longer be allowed into the PK-5 academic hallways during morning drop-off. Parents may still walk their child to the Discovery Center but will need to say goodbye at the academic hallway doors. Our staff will be present to assist students as needed. This adjustment is being made to enhance student safety, encourage independence, and ensure we begin instruction promptly. If you need to meet with a teacher, please schedule a time during their conference period and check in at the front office to follow our visitor procedures.
These changes were discussed with all of our classes before the holiday break during their homeroom morning meetings, so students are already aware of these updates.
We greatly appreciate your support in helping us create a safer, more efficient, and focused start to each school day. Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we work together to provide the best possible experience for your children.
Here’s to a fantastic second semester ahead!
