Dear Bobcat Parents,

Our school has 175 scholarships awarded for the 2024-25 school year. There are two important steps that I need parents to complete in order for the school to receive scholarship funds to cover tuition costs:

1. For each awarded EdChoice scholarship, I must have an Acceptance Form signed and turned in at the office. Nearly everyone has signed and returned them. If you have not already, please contact me in the school office. Thank you!
2. Please follow the LINK to authorize St. Bernard School to deposit funds from the scholarship checks to pay for tuition. The Ohio Department of Education issues scholarship checks on a monthly basis which require this permission to be deposited. Please take care of this immediately if you have not already. Again, most of you took care of this. Thank you!

Dear St. Bernard Parents,

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks to all who came out last Friday for the Trunk-Or-Treat event sponsored by St. Bernard’s Parents Club. It was well-attended and a great event overall! Thanks to our Parents Club for coordinating everything including Kona Ice and the Food Truck this year!

There are a few things to keep in mind over the next few weeks…

This Friday is Spirit Wear Day and donations go to Pregnancy Center West. Because not everyone has diapers, wipes, etc. on hand we want to give you ample reminders so you hopefully have time to pick some up. Thanks for your generosity to mothers in need!

Also on Friday… We would love for you to join us at 2:20 in Church for the Rosary. As we near the end of October (The Month of the Rosary) we will gather as a whole school community in Church to pray the Rosary - for St. Bernard, all our intentions, and for our Nation (especially as we approach the presidential election).

Next week our Mass schedule is shifted a bit. Because Friday is the Solemnity of All Saints and a Holy Day of Obligation, we will have an all-school Mass at 8:30 in the morning. This will be our one “School Mass” for the week - in place of our normal Wednesday Mass. The Wednesday Mass will still take place at the normal time (8:30am) and all are welcome to attend. Students in grades 3 on up will go to Mass on Wednesday AND Friday. And don’t forget that on Friday students can come to school dressed as a Saint! If students choose not to dress as Saints, they should be dressed in the regular school uniform. Please note that Thursday, October 31 is the last day for shorts, skorts, and other “hot weather” uniform items.

This month, we will be supporting Pregnancy Center West. They are in need of newborn diapers, onesies, sleepers, bibs, and clothing. In order to be out of uniform on this day, students must bring in a dollar donation or one of the newborn items listed above.

Dear St. Bernard Parents,

All Souls’ Day is observed on November 2 each year. On this day and throughout the month of

November, we remember in a special way all those who have died. At this time, we find comfort

in knowing that our family members and friends, who now rest in Christ’s heavenly Peace, are

not forgotten.

To perpetuate the memory of these special people, we are assembling a book in which we will

place the names of these relatives, friends, and anyone else you would like to have

remembered in our prayers. Each family is being given a blank page, from the memory book, on

which the names of deceased loved ones should be written. Please complete the page and

return to school by October 25, 2024.

We will remember these and the souls of all of the faithful departed in our daily prayers. God be

with you and bless you, always!

Dear St. Bernard Parents and Students,

On Friday, November 8th, 2024, the St. Bernard students will be presenting a Veterans Day Program in the Parish Center at 1:45pm to honor those who have given military service to our country. Please invite any Veterans you know to join us for this special event. We would like to recognize and thank the Veterans in our community personally at our ceremony. Please return the attached RSVP Form or contact the school office no later than Friday, November 1st, so we can plan accordingly. Thank you so much for your help in planning this celebration!

We need help facilitating the distribution of lunches for the students. On normal days, we need one extra adult per day to help our staff. On pizza lunch days, we need three adults to help distribute the meals. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!!!

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

All children ages 5-9 are invited to pray and learn together at the Children’s Liturgy of

the Word on Sunday’s during 10:30 AM Mass at St. Bernard’s.

Hi Families! Thanks again to everyone that made Trunk-or-Treat such a fun event! There was so much creativity with the cars and costumes!

• We have our first dine to donate event TOMORROW Thursday, October 24th at Panda Express on Harrison Avenue. Panda Express will generously donate 50% of sales all day to St. Bernard when you show the flyer in person or enter the code when ordering online.

• We will have another new fundraiser this year with Nothing Bundt Cakes. Orders will start next week and run through November 14th. The bundt cakes can be picked up at school the week of November 24th, just in time for Thanksgiving! Order forms and additional information will be sent home in the Oct. 30th blue folders. Feel free to reach out to Chelsea Blust with any questions (chelseablust@gmail.com) . These fundraisers are a great way to help us offset costs of events like the Thanksgiving Feast.

• Thanksgiving Feast will be on Friday, November 22nd. We'll be looking for 20+ volunteers to help with setup, serving and cleanup that day. A sign up genius will be coming out shortly if you (or a grandparent) is interested in helping! Thanksgiving Feast is one of our favorite events of the year as it presents an opportunity for all of the students, teachers, staff, priests and parish office to come together to enjoy a home-cooked meal (made by Parents Club) and give thanks for the many blessings we have. We hope you can join us!

Last, but certainly not least, we are still in need of a room parent for 7th grade. If you are interested, please reach out to Sarah Ross (sarahross09@gmail.com) as soon as possible. Thank you!

8th Grade Parents: Attached is the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Release of Records Authorization Form for high school applicants. I can provide you with paper copies in the office.

Please make sure you are registering your 8th grader for the High School Placement Test and completing all application requirements as prescribed by the high schools. St. Bernard records will be sent according to your forms following the Trimester 1 report cards. I usually send records while Parent/Teacher Conferences are being held on the week of Thanksgiving.

Please make sure you are keeping your account current so that you are able to coach and volunteer around the parish and at school. Anyone not up-to-date will not be allowed to be in contact with children. Thank you for your diligence!

BLUE FOLDER CONTENTS THIS WEEK:

• Grandparents Day photos (only families who opted to wait for photos to be taken on Grandparents Day)
• Medical paperwork from the school nurse (select families as required)

Blue folders will go home with the OLDEST student in each family on Wednesdays, as needed, throughout the school year. These will contain any important handouts or forms that need to be submitted in paper form. Anytime we can share documents in a digital format to provide information or link you to online resources, we will do so instead of filling your home with papers.
