SEPTEMBER...

Tuesday 9/3... First Day of School 7:58 1st hour begins

• Epoxy floors were added to our female locker rooms, the stadium bathrooms, and our athletic training room.
• The roof over our auditorium and band/choir classrooms has been updated.
• You will see new signage and markings in our front parking lot.
• The commons received a facelift with some fresh blue and gold paint along with the floor getting a new polish makeover.

Freshman Orientation begins at 11:45. Parents and students are more than welcome to arrive early to get their picture taken. We do not have pictures scheduled during our orientation.

Freshman will pick up their schedules when the enter the commons through the main entrance and will begin orientation sitting in the Alan L. Gornick Auditorium.

Safety and Security is top priority for Gaylord Community Schools and we wanted to provide a link for the state wide OK2SAY program. OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.

Students are encouraged to wear clothing and shoes that are appropriate for the activity in which they are participating. Tops must have straps or sleeves and must cover the student's entire torso from armpit to armpit. Pants, shorts, and skirts must have an inseam at least 4 inches in length. Clothing may not display material that:

• Is materially and substantially disruptive or that school officials can reasonably forecast will create a substantial disruption;
• Is obscene, sexually explicit, indecent, or lewd;
• Promotes the use of or advertises illegal substances, including but not limited to substances illegal for minors;
• Incites violence;
• Contains "fighting words";
• Demonstrates hate group association/affiliation or uses hate speech targeting groups based on their membership in a protected class;

Students who represent the district at an official or school-sponsored function or public event (e.g., athletic teams, bands, choirs and other groups) may be required to follow specific dress requirements as a condition of participation for attendance.

Feedback from parents and visitors of Gaylord High School have expressed a concern for parking during the school day. To help better support members of our community partnership with Gaylord High School we ask that you have a talk with your student and encourage them to park in our two parking lots dedicated for students located by the stadium.
