A Look Into Our Panther Community
Teacher Appreciation Week May 6th - 10th!
We are excited to celebrate and thank our teachers next week! Join Student Council for a week of recognizing our teachers.
A special shoutout to this year's recipients of the Teacher Appreciation awards! Mrs. Berube, Mrs. Gieras and Mrs. Terribile were each recognized by their fellow teachers for their ongoing contributions to the school. Congratulations!
Our Panther Ambassadors planned various activities through last week to celebrate National Youth Violence Prevention Week. During the week, the activities were about kindness, peace and promoting healthy activities. Below are some pictures throughout the week.
7th graders were applying transformations to a polygon on a grid and determining the vertices. In the activity they were working on the goals of the lesson which were to create a drawing on a coordinate grid of a transformed object using verbal descriptions, and to identity what information is needed to transform a polygon. Students were strategic in their questioning to each other to get as much information as possible for the transformation!
Grade 7 students celebrated the end of their Historical Fiction Unit with designing a Bento Box for their final projects. Students chose 5-6 items to symbolize various elements from their novels. Students photographed their items or created a collage on Google Slides. Each item is linked to a description and explanation of how it represents the characters, conflict, themes, and symbols of the novel.
Celebrating our 8th graders!
We are coming into the last couple months of school which means big transitions for our 8th graders. We are looking forward to all the events that will be taking place for them. Below are some save the dates for these. As we get closer, more information will be shared out.

First Race of the Season for Bike Club!
Yesterday the EHMS Bike Team competed in its first race of the season at Moran Middle School in Wallingford. Two Panthers had great races... Abbie Hambidge won first place and Charlotte Daniels finished third on the girl's podium. Other notable finishes were Grayden O'Hearn and Tyler Roman... both finishing in the top 10 for the boys.
The Panthers will race again soon and will eventually wrap up their Short Track Series here at EHMS at the end of the month.

EHMS PTO Update - Panther Prowl is Coming!
IT'S TIME TO RAISE THE BAR!!!
We need a BIG pledge push to even come close to our Panther Prowl fundraising goal...the next classroom incentive is all about ice cream sandwiches!
EVERY CLASS with a pledge total of at least $400 by the end of Monday night will receive an ice cream sandwich delivery on Tuesday, courtesy of the EHMS PTO.
This year, our goal is to raise funds to begin making much-needed improvements to the lighting and sound systems for plays and productions in the Commons, purchase outdoor play/PE equipment, install new benches in front of our school and to continue awarding mini-grants and funding student activities.
Please help our students reach their goal of raising $10,000 for our school!
And remember, don't let the awesome raffle prizes get away! After the Prowl pledging closes, raffles begin at the $25 pledge level with prizes increasing in value as total pledge levels increase. Students raising $300 or more will be entered to win a brand-new Meta Quest 2 VR Headset.
So, which homerooms are leading the pledge pack?
FIRST PLACE: Mr. Kiser's class with $200
SECOND PLACE: Mrs. Wosleger's class with $170
THIRD PLACE: Ms. McCabe's class with $115
FOURTH PLACE: Mrs. Aiken's class with $100
FIFTH PLACE: Ms. Seeley's class with $95
See the full leaderboard by following the link at the end of this message!
We have raised a total of $1,190 so far with only 42 students registered. **If EVERY student registered and raised just $25 we would meet our $10,000 goal**
Pledges have come in from 6 different states so far - Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Florida and Arizona! Register now and share your fundraising webpage with family and friends across the country to help achieve our goal and to have your student entered into the raffles.
Raffle prizes include a Meta Quest 2 VR Headset, Stanley IceFlow tumblers, YETI rambler, EHMS hoodies, 4-pack Yard Goats tickets, LED flying disc frisbee, inflatable lounger, EHMS flannel PJ pants, Adidas sack packs, Carhartt cap, spirit wear gift certificates, waterproof Bluetooth clip speaker, color-changing Bluetooth party speaker, Bluetooth telescopic selfie stick, friendship bracelet making kits, Pinshack arcade gift cards and DQ, Chatham Creamery, Dunkin’ and Starbucks gift cards. Some raffle winners will get to choose an activity from the PBIS activity menu!
The top fundraising student will earn a special "free time" activity of their choice to share with several friends during the school day! The top raising homeroom will also be rewarded with a celebratory breakfast.
Parents, please register your student at the website below and share with friends and family - every pledge counts!
If you or family and friends would prefer to donate via cash or check, please send donations to school in an envelope marked "Panther Prowl" and PLEASE include your student's name and homeroom teacher. This way we can ensure that the donation is credited to their individual and classroom totals for the raffles and prizes.

On Tuesday, Kate Caselli, our Director of Nutrition Services with in the café providing student's a plant-based taste testing. Students were offered a sample of Tropical Tempeh with Pineapple.
