From the Principal...
MacArthur Families,
We are looking forward to focusing on Gratitude this month! One way to think about Gratitude is “choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and our happiness. Gratitude is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress management.
Speaking of gratitude, I am grateful to all our guardians and teachers. Thank you all for your commitment to our scholars. Conferences were so successful because of the teamwork being established. There were critical conversations happening and it was apparent the top priority was how to best meet the needs of our scholars, together. I thank all of you for being a part of our MacArthur Family.
Here are 2 “PurposeFull Pursuits” for you to complete together.
Pursuit 1:
What are some small, specific things that you are Grateful for? Maybe it is your favorite water cup, the way the dog sleeps on the chair, or when your grandma bakes banana bread. Spend some time as a family trying to think of at least 10 small things that you have Gratitude for and then choose to notice them this week with a smile.
Pursuit 2:
Set aside some time to gather as a family and check in with each other. Ask each family member, “How are you feeling today?” Practice Honesty when responding and listen carefully as each family member shares. Use the emotion check-in questions to learn more. Challenge yourselves to check in with each other on a regular basis! Let people know you are Grateful for their willingness to share.
Emotion Check-In Questions:
● Tell me more about that feeling.
● Why do you think you are feeling that emotion?
● What do you need right now?
Sincerely,
Mr. Gonzalez

School Happenings
Harvest Celebrations
Our Harvest Celebrations on October 31st are this coming Monday. Your scholar's classroom teacher has communicated specific happening for their classroom.
If your child is going to have a dismissal change on Monday, an Eagle Note should be sent in their backpack. Remind your child to give it to their classroom teacher. Please do not come to the office to pick up your child at dismissal. If you have sent an Eagle Note to have your child get picked up at the end of day, go to our normal parent pick up location- Door 12. Dismissal is at 4:06.
It is important to ensure students are in comfortable costumes to sit in the classroom. Please help your child make safe and respectful decisions about their costumes. Students may not wear a mask during school. Make-up, weapons, fake blood, or inappropriate dress are not allowed.
If your scholar's classroom is allowing treats/candy to share, please be mindful of the classroom's health rules to ensure there is no conflict with student allergies in the classroom. If you are unsure, please contact your scholar's homeroom teacher directly.
NED is coming!
The NED Show is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During the assembly, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.
Next week, be on the lookout for a flyer will be sent home with information on how to support the program by purchasing a NED yo-yo!
