Greetings CMIT-South Middle/High School Community,
We are thrilled to kick off All-Star Spirit Week starting Tuesday, April 1st, as we celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our students and school — including earning a 4-star rating on the MSDE School Report Card!
This exciting themed dress down week is all about recognizing our students' hard work, academic growth, and school spirit through fun, engaging, and meaningful events.

Wednesday, April 2nd
We will proudly recognize students who earned Proficient or Distinguished ratings on last year’s state assessments. Their dedication and achievement deserves to be honored! This is a student event.
MCAP Night
Tuesday, April 1st | 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Families are invited to gain essential information about the MCAP assessment and experience what testing from a student perspective. Participate in interactive practice simulations in RELA, Math, and Social Studies, and learn how we are preparing students for success.
Maryland School Survey
Wednesday, April 2nd | Starts Promptly at 9:30 AM
All students will participate in the Maryland School Survey, an important opportunity to share their voice and their positive school experience. Timely arrival is critical to ensure smooth participation and completion of the survey process. Please make sure your scholar(s) arrives on time!
All-Star After Party: The Glow UP!
Friday, April 4th | 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
We’ll wrap up Spirit Week with a high-energy, glow-themed celebration to honor our students’ commitment, school spirit, and academic growth. This will be a fun and safe space for all middle school students to celebrate and shine! This event is for Middle School Students Only!

STEM/Maker's Faire Announcement
We are excited to announce that the 2025 STEM/Maker's Faire will take place on April 11th! Our students are currently presenting their innovative projects in class, and we can't wait to see who will be selected to showcase their work at this exciting event.
To make this event a success, we need judges! If you are interested in helping out, please use the link below to complete the interest form by April 7th COB. No prior experience is necessary; however, you must be 21 years or older to participate.

Saturday Academy- Closed on March 29th
Dear Parents,
Please note that we will be closed on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in observance of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. This break will give our dedicated staff, as well as myself, the chance to celebrate and enjoy some well-deserved time off. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you next week.

25-26 SY Student Withdrawal Form
Greetings, CMIT Family.
If you know your scholar will not be returning to CMIT next school year, please fill out the following withdrawal form and send it to the registrar, Mrs. LaPorte, at claporte@cmitsouth.org. This will help us better plan for the upcoming school year. All withdrawal packets will be ready for pickup on July 1, 2025 in the front office. Please be sure to bring your photo ID. This packet must be picked up and can not be email.

FOOD DRIVE!
We are excited to announce that the National Honor Society and the Student Government Association (SGA) Classes at CMIT South High School are coming together to organize a Food Drive! Our mission is to strengthen our community and make a significant impact in the lives of those facing food insecurity. Join us in this important initiative and help us make a positive impact together!
BCF BIBLE STUDY
Join us Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 PM for the launch of CMIT South's BCF Bible Study. Our Bible Study sessions will be held every Friday throughout the school year and offer a chance for students to engage in meaningful fellowship while deepening their knowledge and understanding of the Lord. Our theme for this year is "Into Deep" and we look forward to exploring its significance together. We hope to see you there!
WHEN TO STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL/WORK
To CMIT parents/guardians
Please encourage your scholar to bring in their water to school or water bottle for refill. The school nor the nurse's office do not provide bottle water or cups to student.
If you know your child is experiencing any of the flu- like symptoms please monitor him/her before sending to school. COVID is still around
ATHLETICS NEWS
Spring Sports Are in Full Swing!
JV Baseball
Our JV Baseball team hit the road to take on McDonough High School in Waldorf. Despite a valiant effort, they came up short but are eager to bounce back in their next game. Catch them in action this week as they take on Eleanor Roosevelt HS on Wednesday, April 3rd.
Outdoor Track
Our Outdoor Track team traveled to Parkdale for a developmental meet, where student-athletes showcased their skills and gained valuable experience. They continue to build momentum with two meets this week: a developmental meet at Potomac HS on Tuesday, April 2nd, and an official meet at Laurel HS on Saturday, April 5th.
Middle School Soccer Kicks Off!
Our Middle School Soccer team is ready to start their season next week with home games! Their first matchup is Tuesday, April 2nd, at home against Oxon Hill Middle School. Come out and support our young athletes as they begin their season!

National Junior Honor Society Membership Drive
The Sigma Tau Epsilon Mu Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society at CMIT South Middle School is excited to announce that the membership drive will open on March 10, 2025!
The criteria for selecting eligible, new candidates/members are as follows:
Enrolled for one semester at CMIT South in grades sixth, seventh, or eighth grade.
Obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
Eligible students will be notified and required to complete and submit the following:
Candidate information forms to include recommendations by the communicated deadline for further consideration.
The selection process is as follows:
New members will be selected during the second semester of the school year.
Evaluated based on the service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Members shall be selected by a majority vote of the faculty council, which consists of five faculty members appointed by the principal.
Special Note: An active member in good standing of the National Junior Honor Society from a Prince George’s County Public School, who transfers to CMIT South MS will be automatically accepted for membership in this chapter. The faculty council will allow the transferring member one semester to attain the membership requirements. Thereafter, the NJHS member must maintain those requirements for this chapter in order to retain his/her membership.
