A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
Fall is definitely in the air. This brings chilly winds and beautiful colors to our trees. Sometimes our little ones forget that the temperature can vary greatly throughout the course of the day. Please remind them to have a coat or warm sweatshirt with them!
Our students are able to bring their iPads home daily. If students choose to work on any of the applications that are on their iPads at home, please do not help them with the content. Teachers plan learning paths for their students based on their progression on these platforms. It is important for teachers to understand where students need support. Teachers will let you know if there is any expectation of students working on these at home.
Our Halloween parties will take place on 10/31. We will also be hosting Veterans Day Assemblies on 11/11. Please see below for specific information on the parties and assemblies.
Have a great weekend.
In gratitude,
Beth Carmody

ELFP Community Forum
We would like to thank all of our community members who came out to Fremont Intermediate School Thursday night as the Steering Committee presented the recommendation for our Educational Long-Range Facility Plan (ELFP). This plan will serve as a roadmap for the future of our facilities over the next 20 years. It is important that this plan be representative of our community’s priorities. Our next steps include presenting the ELFP to our staff for feedback next week before taking the recommendation to the Board of Education at its November 18 meeting.
Hearing and Vision Screenings
Beginning October 21, 2024 students will undergo hearing and/or vision screenings by an IDPH Certified Vision/Hearing Screening Technician. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.
In general, all students in KINDERGARTEN, FIRST AND SECOND grade will be screened for hearing. All SECOND grade students and all students that are new to our district and/or receive special education services will be screened for hearing and vision.
If a child does not pass the first screening, they will be re-screened two weeks later. If they do not pass the second screening, a letter will be sent to the parents/guardians notifying them that their child will need to see an eye doctor or audiologist for further evaluation.
The parent or legal guardian of a student may object to hearing and/or vision screening tests for their child on religious grounds. If you object, please contact our school nurse, Dana Bestler, at 847-837-0437 x2002.
