PRE-KINDERGARTEN PEER MODELS NEEDED
MCS is seeking 3 and 4 year old peer models for the Early Intervention Center located on the John Sevier Elementary campus. The EIC is a program designed to provide preschool intervention services for young children with a variety of disabilities. Peer models provide other young children with typical social interactions while all students engage in play-based academic instruction.
The session length for peer models is 3 hours (7:45-10:45, estimate) for two days a week. No fees are associated with participation.
You may access the peer model application below. Please contact Dr. Melanie Davidson with any questions: melanie.davidson@maryville-schools.org.
CAROLING ACROSS CAMPUS
During the final days of the fall term, the Maryville High School Chorale revived a beloved tradition by sharing holiday cheer with students at Coulter Grove, Sam Houston, Montgomery Ridge, Foothills, and the District Office.
The idea to bring the high school choir’s holiday music to younger students started as a way to give the singers more opportunities to share the pieces they worked so hard to perfect. However, this tradition quickly became about more than just additional practice. Mr. Byron Davis shared, “The enthusiasm from the students and staff reminded us how special this experience is.” The day didn’t end with the school performances. About half of the Chorale also brought their music to Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care, sharing the joy of the season with residents there.
The choir’s return to this tradition highlights the ability of music to connect people, inspire creativity, and spread joy. These performances reminded both the singers and their audiences of the importance of community and the shared experience of music.
