Cedar Hill Football To Visit Mesquite Horn on Friday
The Cedar Hill High School Football Team will play its final road game of the season at 7 p.m. Friday against Mesquite Horn (1-7, 0-5) at Hanby Stadium, 410 East Davis Street in Mesquite.
Cedar Hill and the Jaguars last locked horns in 2019, with the Longhorns earning a 49-21 victory at Longhorn Stadium.
Cedar Hill (3-5, 2-3) lost to DeSoto, 63-24, last Friday in the Battle Of Belt Line Game. The Longhorns outrushed the Eagles, 281-233, and quarterback Tamarion Crochett had one of his best rushing games of the season with six carries for 69 yards.
Running back CJ Castleberry rushed for his fifth touchdown of the season and backup quarterback Omowale Muhammid scored his first varsity touchdown in the second half.
Wide receiver Cedric Mills (425 receiving yards) has a chance to have a 500 yard receiving season.
Horn's lone district victory came at Arlington Lamar on September 12, although the Jaguars were competitive in losses to Mesquite (24-17) and Waxahachie (37-33).
In a 52-7 loss to Duncanville last week, Horn quarterback CJ Daughtry passed for 133 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Cedonaye Lott caught two passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Cedar Hill High School senior Clarinet Drum Major Omari Kuti cherishes the friendships and connections he’s made as part of the Red Army Marching Band over the past four years.
Kuti is this week’s Star Of The Show, sponsored by Fairfield Inn Cedar Hill.
In addition to playing in the band, Kuti is a class officer and a member of the Business Professionals of America (BPA).
“I have learned that you need to make everything make sense and being on time
is not optional,” Kuti said. “Do not let others perceptions of you stop you from being you.”
Kuti plans to study International Affairs in college with the goal of becoming an international business attorney.
First Responder Appreciation (sponsored by DAPPS): CHISD PD Officer Lolita Rabon
Cedar Hill ISD Police Officer Lolita Rabon is grateful to service the scholars, staff and families of Lake Ridge Elementary School (LRE).
“As the campus officer, you get to know the people – the parents, teachers and kids,” said Rabon, who was recognized last Friday as part of First Responder Appreciation, sponsored by DAPPS.
Rabon, who joined the department in June 2021, had served LRE and three or four other campuses in past years.
“You don’t get to know the parents, teachers and kids when you’re going back and forth between campuses,” Rabon said. “The families have expressed their appreciation and say they feel safe with an officer on campus.
“When (LRE Principal) Dr. McCarther and (Assistant Principal LaTosha) Brown found out I’d be here, they gave me a hug and said they were so glad that I’d be the Lake Ridge officer,” Rabon said. “The kids really appreciate you. Seeing them makes my day.”
The department grew significantly in the past year, after the passage of the Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) last November. That made it possible for CHISD-PD to hire enough officers to fulfill the state mandate of having an officer on every campus.
Rabon has 12 years of law enforcement experience, having previously served with the Texas Woman’s University Police Department in Denton.
She’s been able to provide ideas and advice to the newer CHISD-PD officers. Those officers, many of whom retired from a neighboring law enforcement agency, in turn have been helpful to Rabon, since they have more overall years in the profession.
A Dallas native, Rabon grew up as the second oldest of four children in a military family. She’s the only member of her family to work in law enforcement.
