FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
I can remember working from home in late April or early May and thinking of the joy our school community would feel when we were once again able to welcome students into our building. Now, with orientation week concluded, we are just a few days away from making this a reality -- opening our doors and resuming full, in-person learning for the 2020-2021 academic year. We can't wait!
As we look ahead to reopening on Tuesday, please take special note of the following:
1. Student Screening Tool
All students must complete the student screening tool before arriving at school each day. A reminder that this link can be found on our school website homepage, as well as downloaded to your iPhone or Android home screen for easy access.
Please do not complete the screening tool more than three hours before the student arrives at the school. The screening tool link is the same each day and will automatically generate a new form when you click it.
2. Drop Off & Pick-Up Procedures
Please note that, under RIDE guidelines, parents are not permitted into the building at drop off or pick up. In addition, we ask that all parents/guardians who exit their vehicle during pick-up and/or drop-off wear a mask. A reminder to please avoid crowding and maintain social distancing at pick-up locations around the premises.
Earlier this week, new pre-kindergarten drop-off procedures were emailed to our Pre-K families.
In addition, please be sure to review the before school and after school care procedures sent to those families registered for September care. Before and after school care will begin on Thursday, September 10th. Please note that, at this time, registration for before and/or after school care for the month of September is closed.
3. Staggered Arrival Windows
A reminder that we will be utilizing staggered arrival times to help reduce crowding at drop-off. The arrival windows are as follows:
K,4,6: 7:40am-7:50am
PK, 1, 3, 7: 7:50am-8:00am
2,5,8: 8:00am-8:10am
Please note, siblings in different grade levels may use the same arrival window.
In addition, please note the drop-off parking lot procedures noted in the diagram below.
4. Virtual Back to School Night
Much of this material was covered at our Virtual Back to School Night. If you were not able to attend, a recording of the Zoom webinar is available for all families. Speaking of Virtual Back to School Night, there were two questions that were left unanswered, which are addressed below:
Q. When does the milk program start?
A. The milk program begins in conjunction with our lunch service on October 1st. Details and menus will be made available to families soon.
Q. When are students permitted to wear shorts?
A. Our dress code policy states that shorts are permitted until Columbus Day and after April Break; however, considering the circumstances and the challenges presented by wearing masks in warm weather, we will extend this date to Monday, October 26th for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Thank you for your support over these past several months. While these times have been challenging for so many members of our community, we are proud and excited to begin a new year in-person Tuesday.
See you then! Have a great weekend!
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
