School Improvement Plan - In the fall, we shared that we would be working on our School Improvement Plan this year. The SIP Committee worked diligently as they created a plan to serve our school. The SIP process is one in which all schools in the Archdiocese undertake every 5-7 years in the areas of Catholic Identity, Educational Issues, and Institutional Issues. Here is a copy of the SIP Plan. After the SIP visit I shared the commendations from the visiting team. If you missed them, they can be found here.
Volunteer - Need something to do with the kids this summer? Teach them the value of service. The Community Outreach Committee needs volunteers to help assemble and transport lunches to Claver House. See the sign-up below under the PFA section.
Reminder: Submissions for the newsletter should be sent to Mrs. McEnery and Ms. Schmitt by noon on Monday. Graphics should be a jpg or png. In the subject line, please put "Newsletter".
Thank you very much for partnering with us as we educate your children academically and spiritually. Have a safe and healthy summer!

Teachers Use Summer for Professional Development
Even though it is summer, staff members are still learning! Our primary teachers (even the new ones!), Student Support Services and Administration attended UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) phonics training on Monday to get ready for fall implementation. This will support our School Improvement goal of having a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
Staff members will also be attending MySci science training at Washington University. MySci is an ongoing partnership with the university that provides hands-on science learning for our students.
Additionally, Mrs. Wright, Ms. Brennecke, Ms. Schmitt, and Mrs. McEnery are attending PBLWorks (Project Based Learning Training) in California at the end of June. This will provide us an opportunity to learn more about PBL before bringing training to the whole staff next summer. We will be working on PBL in anticipation of the Center of Innovative Learning being completed and offering us more space to implement this type of learning.
Middle School Math Teacher, Mr. Magee, is serving on the Archdiocese Math Committee to help create math units which will provide consistency in math instruction across the Archdiocese.

Board of Education Public Summary
St. Gabriel the Archangel
Parish Board of Education
Public Summary of the 2024-2025 School Year
The Board of Education works closely with our school staff and administration to cultivate the mission of the school to its fullest extent. The Board is proud to have supported St. Gabriel the Archangel School through another school year with key actions outlined below. We look forward to the 2025-2026 school year.
Education: One of the major responsibilities of the Board is to support the educational goals identified by school faculty and administration to “develop the whole child,” academically, emotionally, and in the Catholic Faith. This year, the education committee focused on finalizing the school improvement plan as part of our successful regular accreditation process and worked closely with the Technology Committee on ensuring technology updates in our school are in line with educational goals for our students.
Safety: The Safety Committee strives to assist the Pastor and the Principal in assuring the safety policies and procedures are up to date. In the last few years, the Safety Committee worked on a comprehensive safety plan for the school.
Policy: The Policy Committee conducted a review of the school handbook regarding the use of artificial intelligence and other technological devices, examining all content as well as format and structure. The Board will continue to build on progress in the upcoming year to ensure our handbook is clear and actionable for both parents and the administration.
Nominations & Elections: To support the promotion of the Board as a service opportunity, the Nominations & Elections committee promotes annual elections, pursues candidates and administers the election. This past year, four new members were added to the Board after review of candidates by Fr. Molini
Finance: Alongside parish and school administration, the Board finalized the 2024-25 budget and set registration fees for the upcoming school year. Tuition still falls short of the full cost of educating students at St. Gabriel and takes advantage of parish support of the school, and the Finance committee explores additional approaches to raising funds including Giving Tuesday and coordination with the PFA committees.
Technology: Throughout the school year, the Technology committee meets to provide guidance to the school as it pertains to technology purchases, technology fees and allocation of grants. This committee began exploration of different approaches to managing devices and device policies related to student technologies like the Chromebooks. A major ongoing goal of the technology committee is to develop a mission and philosophy goal statement for technology use for our students as well as to provide helpful parental tips for technology use.
Mission & Communications: The Mission & Communication team continued to support many annual events including Make a Difference Day, Giving Tuesday, Open House and the St. Gabriel Auction. The Mission & Communication Committee also began to develop a marketing plan for St. Gabriel. With a focus on engagement, the committee will identify opportunities to enhance parent, student, and community involvement in the upcoming academic year.
The Board of Education meets regularly. Meetings are closed sessions, but an open forum is available for parents and parishioners who are interested in sharing a topic for consideration. All such topics must be provided in writing prior to the meeting and should include at least one solution for consideration. All parents and parishioners are also encouraged to contact Board members with questions and suggestions at any time. Board members serve a three-year term and are selected by the Pastor each Spring.
Please contact 2024-25 Board President Lacy Gassner (lacy.brianna@gmail.com) with any questions.
