MHS CAREER/VOLUNTEER FAIR
Thank you to everyone who made this week's Volunteer Fair at Marshfield High School a huge success. Special thank you to Amanda Zagami, Andrea Robbins, Dr. Paula Minchello, and everyone who highlighted 22 volunteer organizations whom the students could support within our community. Thank you for making such a great and positive impact on our students.
WE ARE MARSHFIELD PROJECT (WAMP)
The annual We Are Marshfield Project (WAMP) took place today and it was, once again, a huge success. Almost 250 MHS seniors joined with 100 volunteers to work on projects throughout Marshfield. The We Are Marshfield Project is a day of community service for the senior class to give back to the community that raised them. Senior citizens' homes, all elementary schools, churches, and community buildings/sites & beaches were tended to over the course of the school day.
In total, the MHS Seniors and their Volunteer chaperones accounted for over 2,000 hours in volunteer service to the Town of Marshfield! That is simply amazing and we cannot thank them enough. #WeRmarshfield is something you see over and over around the MPSD and a day like today highlights that we are one community, unified in our efforts to make it better. Mark your calendar for next year, May 1, 2026!!
Thank you, Mrs. Pozerski and Mrs. Kurmin for once again organizing this amazing event! You work is inspiring!

DISTRICT-WIDE BELONGING TEAM
Our fourth Belonging Team Meeting took place Monday, April 14, 2025. We spent the majority of the meeting creating a draft of our Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Theory of Action, which will be shared with student groups, leadership, staff, school committee, and families for input. Our goal is to have these statements finalized as we move into the next school year. We are excited for our next meeting, when we will meet with the Elementary English Language Learner Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC). Thank you to the Belonging Team for their continued great work.
SUPERINTENDENT'S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SSAC)
Student voice in everything we do at Marshfield Public Schools is important and valued. To further student voice throughout the district, I am happy to announce the formation of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC). The SSAC meets with the Superintendent monthly, and Assistant Superintendents and other leaders (when they are available) to advise, to provide feedback, and to present viable solutions on District initiatives and programs.
Our first three meetings were wonderful. We began to formulate a student voice survey, created community agreements for our work, got to know each other better, and looked at the role of this important team. In our third meeting, with the high school and middle school students, we talked about our cell phone policies and the current implementation of those policies at the middle and the high school. In our fourth meeting, we talked about school pride and safety.
At our fifth meeting, our younger advisory council members worked with our middle and high school members to talk about ways student voice is being heard throughout the district and to brainstorm ways we can expand voice for all.
Last week's meeting involved a discussion regarding "Belonging" in our schools. Thank you to DWS Principal MacNeill, for helping to lead the discussion. Great job, students!
GREAT LEARNING HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT
Our Learning Walks this year will revolve around Deep Student Engagement, Task Development, and Learning Environment for Students. The District Leader established look-fors are inspired by Amy Berry and her book Reimagining Student Learning, From Disrupting to Driving. This is a multi-year focus, which will involve all stakeholders.
In a nutshell, we will focus on those elements in the classroom that move students from disrupting to driving learning, while also focusing on the development of strong tasks to engage the students within a culturally responsive climate that promotes inclusion.
These lookfors are being unwrapped at staff meetings across the district. This week we engaged in learning walks at FBMS, Martinson Elementary School, and MHS.
