Principal's Message
Hello Unity Families!
It is hard to believe that April is already here! Spring is always a great time of year at school, the weather is improving, the grass is greening, and the trees and flowers are blooming. Students are getting excited about the completion of the school year, and all the excitement that summer brings. However, before that, we still have a lot of work to complete. I would like to keep you all informed of the events that we will be having at Unity and prepare you for the end of the school year.
Students will be coming home with their report cards on Thursday April 3rd. Parents can find the report card in their child’s backpack. If you have any questions or concerns, or cannot locate the report card, please contact your child’s teacher and they will resolve the issue.
Kindergarten round-up will be on Wednesday, April 2nd. From 8:45 AM until 2:15 PM. We will also be registering students in Transitional Kindergarten at that time as well. We estimate from start to finish the process will take about an hour to complete. If you have any questions, please contact the Unity Office.
Spring break is also just around the corner. There will be no school on April 17-21. The week that we return from spring break will begin ISASP assessments. ISASP is an assessment that is given to all students in the 3rd through the 11th grade. Our assessment window is from April 24th through May 9th. These are important days, so we greatly appreciate all the parent support we can get at this time. Please make every effort you can to get your child to school during these dates and help them have their best opportunity for success by being well rested.
As we conclude the 2024-2025 school year with the 4th quarter, we at Unity Elementary want to thank all the families who support the hard work of our students and staff.
Have a wonderful spring!
Mr. Finkey
Principal, Unity Elementary
Lunch with Students
In an attempt to keep more order and consistency with the students in the lunchroom, Parents/Siblings/Guardians will only be able to join their students for lunch on Fridays! Thank you for your cooperation!
Milk with Lunch
Just a reminder that if your child brings a cold lunch and wants to purchase a milk here at school, it costs .55 cents. Please make sure that you send money with your child each day that they are going to want to buy a milk. Otherwise, please send a drink with your child to go with their cold lunch.
You can also put money in your child's lunch account so that they have money in the system to purchase milk. You can either do this online on the district website or by sending money to the school in an envelope marked with "Please deposit in lunch account for (child's name and grade)"

Counselors Corner
It's time for April Showers, Unity!
April is definitely a big month here. Last month, we talked about what things to do to cooperate, such as having a goal, listening, sharing our ideas, compromising, using kind words and a kind tone, and everybody working together. Then, students tried out the human knot. For fourth grade, students had to collaborate and discuss a simple problem such as what to have for dinner between two options and find a common solution.
In April, we will be discussing digital safety, and students will get to attend a career fair hosted by the fifth grade class. The fifth graders have been working hard to look at their interests, and finding a career to research that matches those interests. They will make a poster and get to share their career with the school in the second week of April.
Also upcoming is the fifth grade visits to the Middle Schools! On April 8th, students registered for East will visit EMS, and on May 13th students registered for North will visit NMS.
Several students like to tell me about playing Gorilla Tag on their VR set- if you're interested, these games are available for students on the VR set to help with anxiety.
Here are a few VR apps to get you or your students started:
