Superintendent Newsletter
March 17, 2024
Update from Superintendent Shuldiner
Dear Lansing School District Community,
I hope that this newsletter finds you well. As always, it is a pleasure to be writing to you all.
As we approach the first day of Spring, March 19th, it is a good reminder that a new season is upon us. In many cultures, the start of the new year coincides with the start of the Spring Equinox. The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and we start to spend more time outside. Symbolically, at least, we are blossoming into a new era.
In thinking about the new year ahead, this week is a perfect time to think about the next school year and school enrollment. Enrollment for next year is open, and we can't wait to see all the new Pre-K and Kindergarten students, as well as any new students enrolling for the Fall. Remember, if you have students in any grade and you want to bring your child back to the Lansing School District, you can do so. Please use this week to get any paperwork together, fill out the forms, and submit them for enrollment. The earlier you sign up, the quicker we can help support you in the district.
If anyone reading this newsletter is hesitant to send their child to our schools, please feel free to ask to take a tour of the school or reach out to the principal. Our enrollment numbers are going up because Lansing is starting to believe again in our school district. Families that would think about "choice-ing out" are enrolling. And families that used to "choice-out" are sending their children back to Lansing. Great things are happening, but please don't just take my word for it.
See for yourself. Set up a visit, talk to the administration, and speak to a teacher. Deciding where your child goes to school is a very important decision, and we want all our families to enroll in a place they feel comfortable.
Here is the link for enrollment.

I can't wait to see all the new students in the Fall!
Thank you so much for all of your incredible support of our district. Together, we will do great things for the children of Lansing.

Daniyah Campbell — Lewton Spanish Immersion and Global Studies School
Meet Daniyah Campbell, a remarkable student who joined Lewton on January 8, 2024. Despite initial hesitations upon her arrival, Daniyah has swiftly integrated into the school community, forging meaningful connections and becoming an integral part of Lewton. Her ability to overcome the challenges of adapting to a new environment is truly commendable. In such a short time, Daniyah has made friends and showcased her determination and resilience.
We are immensely proud of her accomplishments and eagerly anticipate witnessing the continued growth and success that she undoubtedly brings to our school. Daniyah Campbell is a shining example of the positive impact a student can have, and we are thrilled to celebrate her achievements and contributions to the Lewton community.
Staff Feature
Jessica Benavides, Deputy Superintendent of Schools, along with our Board of Education, recently recognized some truly outstanding teachers in the Lansing School District. These classroom superstars have the highest observed student growth in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, as measured by the fall-to-winter NWEA benchmark assessment. These teachers had the classrooms with the highest observed growth across the district in their respective grade levels.
We are proud of these outstanding professionals and their efforts to help students succeed.

Tanisha Wilson — Everett High School
Tanisha Wilson has been there to help in every single aspect of Everett High School's athletic department. She has been hands-on with everything concerning Everett, helping out with setup, tear down, or game management during the game. An Everett alum, Tanisha goes above and beyond to ensure the Vikings have the things they need — even when she's not directly impacted by whatever is going on. Tanisha has a huge heart and is willing to do anything for the staff and our students at Everett. Thank you, Tanisha!
