Pre-K 3 News – Making a Splash to End the Year!
Our Pre-K 3 class has been diving into our final study of the year—water! We’ve explored how we use water, where it comes from, and what objects sink or float. The children especially enjoyed hands-on activities like measuring and pouring, making predictions, and testing their ideas in real time.
Along with our water investigations, we’ve had some exciting end-of-year events! We had a blast at Field Day, enjoyed our class trip to the zoo, and have been reflecting on all the fun and learning we’ve shared together.
We’re now looking forward to our End-of-Year Celebration, where students will share a special performance to celebrate all they’ve accomplished. We’re so proud of their growth this year and can’t wait to see them shine in Pre-K 4 next fall!

Can you believe that it's June already and that the end of the school year is near? It seems like only yesterday that we welcomed students back to the classroom for the 2024-2025 school year. Only when you look at photos from September 2024 do you realize how much time has passed, as evidenced by how much our students have grown since then. What an exciting school year it has been - but it's not over yet!
With the weather getting warmer by late spring, the students in Ms. J's class spent more time learning outdoors. We took periodic nature walks to see the grass growing greener, the trees getting fuller with leaves and blossoms, and the seeds that were planted in the garden boxes sprouting into plants and flowers. After having learned about the life cycle of plants, butterflies, and chicks in the classroom, we were able to experience nature first hand on the lawn right in front of Lincoln School! On the lawn, we also enjoyed a pre-Memorial Day picnic to kick off the unofficial start of summer.
Our wildest adventure, however, had to be our field trip to Turtleback Zoo. Although the bear and lion were sleeping in the midday heat when we passed by their habitats, the ostriches and giraffes in the Africa section of the zoo were ready for our visit. The giraffes ate leaves of lettuce right out of our hands! Following a picnic table lunch and relaxing train ride encircling the zoo's perimeter, we were brave enough to pet stingrays in the touch tank before heading to our bus for the ride back to Lincoln School, after such a roaring great adventure.
In the final weeks of the regular school year, there is still more to look forward to. Kindergarten graduation for some of our classmates, promotions, Father's Day, Juneteenth - and of course, the official start of summer.

Our Amazing Learning Adventure!
Our Exciting STEM Field Trip 🏆
Wow, what an incredible journey our class just experienced! We recently went on a fantastic educational trip that was all about teamwork and discovery. During our field trip, the students explored awesome STEM stations that challenged us to solve problems and work together. Our teachers were so proud of how well-behaved we were that they called us the BEST CLASS EVER! We learned so much and had a blast doing it!
Readers Theatre: Our Next Big Performance! 🎭
Right after our amazing field trip, we jumped into an exciting new project called Readers Theatre. We're working hard to create an awesome mystery performance that will amaze our classmates! Each student is learning important skills like memorizing lines, creating cool dance moves, and designing super creative sets for our show.
Our performance will be extra special because we'll get to show off our acting skills to other classes. We're practicing how to think carefully about the story and solve mysteries while having tons of fun. This project is helping us become better speakers, more creative thinkers, and amazing team players. The best part? Our excitement is through the roof! We can't wait to show everyone how talented and awesome we are. Get ready for an incredible performance that will make everyone smile and think!

As the end of the year quickly approaches, The Second Graders remain embraced in many learning experiences! We are working on writing creative character narratives. The students will develop a setting, a plot, and a main character that they will take on an adventure! In Reading, the students are thrilled to be in Book Clubs where they ask questions and think critically of stories with their peers.
In Math, we have finished our unit on measurement and we have moved into our unit on analyzing data. The students will have extensive opportunities to compare and graph data accordingly. We will then move into our final chapter focusing on geometry and fraction concepts.
Our dinosaur unit was extraordinary! Following the dinosaur unit, we moved on to government studies and will wrap up the year with learning about our solar system!
Please be sure to check our Google Classroom for important reminders, updates, and additional resources that relate to class activities or school events. Many exciting Second Grade activities are still ahead in our final month of June!

As we wrap up the school year in First Grade, we want to reflect on the wonderful growth, memories, and learning the students have done. We explored fiction and nonfiction texts, learned to ask questions, make predictions and connections, and grew in reading fluency and comprehension. Our First Graders have worked on writing personal narratives, how-to pieces, and practiced organizing their thoughts and expressing their ideas with clarity and creativity.
In Math, the students have built strong number skills, mastered addition and subtraction within 20, explored place value, learned to understand money, and even dipped into telling time to the half hour and to the hour.
Our First Graders look forward to Field Day on Monday, June 9th. Please remember to have the students dressed in sneakers and comfortable clothing. It has been such a pleasure watching each student blossom throughout the school year!
