MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DR. CRATES
Dear Castro Families,
State Testing Continues: Many thanks to all Castro families for making the extra effort to be on time for school. It’s clear that you and our students are taking the tests very seriously. We continue testing through May 20. We schedule testing in the mornings when students have the most energy and focus. Make up testing occurs in the afternoon.
Fun Friday School Colors Day: Wear Blue and White this Friday, May 6! Next week: Carpool, walk, bike, scooter to school with a raffle. When we have had a positive week at school, Fun Fridays include music at lunch.
Our new Principal, Mrs. Jackee Keirns You’ve received an email from Dr. Rudolph several weeks ago that Mrs. Keirns, the Assistant Principal at Crittenden Middle School, will be our Principal starting July 1. Mrs. Keirns and I meet regularly to assure a smooth transition and she is excited to join and lead the Castro community . As part of the transition, this month she will attend our School Site Council (SSC), English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC), and our next Principal’s Coffee. Welcome, Mrs. Keirns!
Summer school notifications of acceptance are being sent out this week. Confirmation emails to families who have applied to summer school are being sent out. The confirmation email also contains a link for families to indicate whether they are interested in after school care until 5:30 each day during summer school. Mid May, families will need to register for their assigned program (either RAS or YMCA).
Thanks for your patience as district office staff work with staff from 9 school sites to coordinate this major effort involving many other agencies.
5th Grade Promotion Celebration, Friday, June 3 8:30-9:30. Our 5th grade parents showed their spirit and commitment when 24 families attended our celebration planning meeting. We are planning a very special event for them.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Sincerely,
Dr. Judy Crates
Principal
