WIN: What's Important Now
SEPTEMBER EDITION
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Riverglen Families,
We are almost a quarter of the way through our school year and we have had some great things happening at Riverglen! On September 5, we had our first school dance. Due to a generous donation, all students were able to attend the dance and get a meal for free! Our students participated in Chalk the Walk where they wrote messages to promote positive mental wellness on the sidewalks surrounding Riverglen. There are significant things going on in our classrooms right now too, and we are looking forward to having you all in our building for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Providing your children with a safe and welcoming environment along with working to ensure each student has a trusted adult at Riverglen are our number one priority. If there is anything extra we can do to support your child and/or family, please reach out at trevor.mckenna@boiseschools.org.
Sincerely,
Mr. McKenna

ELECTRONICS POLICY
For the 2024 - 2025 school year, Riverglen classrooms will continue to be a electronics free zone in order to reduce disruptions to teaching and learning. Cell phones, gaming devices, earphones and/or headphones or other similar devices can be used before and after school, during passing periods and at break and lunch. Our expectation is that students put all of these items in their backpacks or lockers prior to entering any classroom. Students with documented medical conditions that require access to phones for health reasons are allowed to access phones, as needed.
SUCCESS ONLY SHOWS UP IF YOU DO!!
Last school year, over 31% of our students were considered to be Chronically Absent according to the federal definition. In order to be considered Chronically Absent, students had to be absent for more than nine days a semester. Our goal is to have no moire than 20% of our students be Chronically Absent for the 2024-2025 school year. We are working hard to create a school environment that builds strong connections and positive relationships amongst our students and staff. We are also working hard to plan activities that students will have to look forward to throughout the year. Our attendance motto for the school year is: Success only shows up if you do!! Please help us reach our attendance goal this year by emphasizing the importance of daily attendance with your children.
Please use the link below to access pertient information for when your child may be absent from school.
FREE BREAKFAST FOR ALL
As a reminder, breakfast at school is free for ALL students this school year! Students may get their free breakfasts before school or at break. Please encourage your children to take advantage of this incredible resource!
