On May16th our kindergarteners went on a fun-filled adventure to Grosse Pointe Zoology! Our morning started off with a lot of smiles and excitement as many children enjoyed their first bus ride. When we arrived at our destination, we were greeted by so many cool animals. A few of our favorites were snakes, a tarantula, a really big toad, a chinchilla, an iguana, and even a sloth! We got to touch many of our new friends and learned so much information. It was a great time and our kindergartners would love to give a huge thank you to our Mark Twain Parent Club for making this trip possible.

Congratulations to May's ROCKStars! These students have been recognized for being Responsible & Respectful , Organized, Cooperative, Kind, and Safe throughout the month. In addition to being recognized here, students received an invitation to a pizza party, and a ROCKS AWARD Certificate to commemorate the event.

We'd also like to congratulate to Mrs. Palus' 1st- grade, and Ms. Lombardo's 6th-grade classes. They earned the most Classroom ROCKS tickets last month and will receive a cool treat and a reward to display in their classroom. Mrs. Szeliga's 2nd--grade class also won the Golden Trash Can Award for the cleanest room. Keep up the outta this world behavior, Comets!

Is your child missing snow pants, boots, or hoodies? Our lost & found is packed. Please encourage your child to check for any missing items as soon as possible. All lost & found items will be removed on Friday, June 6th and donated to Goodwill.

Field Day Fun

Field Day at at Twain was a hit! Special thanks to Mr. Mette & Mr. Falluca, our PE teachers, for planning and organizing all the events. We'd also like to thank the MTPC for providing the cool treats at the conclusion and all of our parent volunteers for making the day success.

iPad collection took place last week. If your child has not turned their iPad in, please have them do so ASAP.

Students are encouraged ro do the following prior to turning in their iPad:

• Please make sure the iPad is charged to 100%.
• Return the charging unit that you were issued. All parts must be an Apple product.
• Please remove any stickers that your student may have put on the iPad.
• Please delete the videos and pictures from the iPad.
• Turn off any passcodes or restrictions you may have put on the iPad.
• Please delete any alarms.

Fraser Public Schools has created last day of school signs for each grade-level. Please feel free to print and take a picture of your child commemorating their last day of the school year. Pictures can be shared on our Facebook Page : Mark Twain Elementary - Fraser Schools or via Twitter using the hashtag #teamtwain and/or #fraserfamily. Links to the signs may be found below.

Report cards will be mailed home to all of our Comets next week. Students who have been in reading or math intervention will have their final progress monitoring data graphs sent home with them before school ends

On Tuesday, May 27th, students who volunteered in service positions throughout the school year were treated to a day at McKinley Park. They had some GREAT weather and enjoyed playing games and eating pizza. We appreciate our student leaders and can't wait to see what clubs and positions they take on next year. We also appreciate Mrs. Schop & Ms. Danaj, Mr. Lentine, Mrs. Albrecht, and Mrs. Fett for continuing as sponsors for each of these organization. We couldn't do it without you!

The weather was perfect for our annual 6th-Grade vs. Staff Kickball Game. Students in grades K-5 cheered on both teams and many kind words were heard. Our staff played well, but the 6th graders broke our undefeated streak. We can't wait for next year's game!

The MTPC Ice Cream Social was a great success. Families enjoyed the obstacle course, bounce houses, & food trucks. Kickball and the playscapes were a hit. Everyone appreciated the ice cream on a warm night too. Special thanks to the MTPC for hosting this wonderful event for our families.
