West Bloomfield Parks & Recreation Commission and West Bloomfield Library Launch 2025/26 "Junior Leadership Commission" Application
The West Bloomfield Township Parks & Recreation Commission, in partnership with the West Bloomfield Township Public Library, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2025-26 Junior Leadership Commission (WB-JLC). This unique opportunity is designed for rising 7th and 8th grade leaders at West Bloomfield Middle School who are passionate about community engagement and environmental stewardship.

Save the Date for Town Hall fighting Hate Crimes
WBSD is happy to share that Representative Noah Arbit is hosting an upcoming Town Hall on Hate Crimes and Extremism Wednesday, May 7th at 7 p.m. This informative, timely event will feature a panel conversation with Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and world-renowned scholar Dr. Cynthia Miller Idriss, Founding Director of the Polarization, Extremism, Research and Innovation Lab at American University and bestselling author of Hate in the Homeland.
What is the aim of the event?
The event will focus on educating attendees on how to identify and report hate crimes, how Michigan is working to tackle hate crimes and extremism, including the recent passage of my Michigan Hate Crime Act, other legislation in the works, from a law enforcement perspective through Attorney General Nessel’s Hate Crimes and Domestic Terrorism Unit, at universities, as well as strategies and tools to combat hate, extremism, radicalization that we can implement locally in our community.

WBHS HONORS CONVOCATION Thursday, May 22, 2025
West Bloomfield High School’s Honors Convocation will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 22, in the high school auditorium. This senior assembly is held in honor of seniors who have earned recognition for their accomplishments during their high school career. The program is held in the evening so the achievements of our seniors can be shared with their classmates and families. The program will include recognition for scholastic achievement, athletics and organizational awards. Parents are invited to attend this special ceremony.

Congratulations to 27 WBMS Band Students who performed at the MSBOA District 4 Solo and Ensemble Festival, hosted at Novi Middle School. Similar to the great success at the Winter Solo and Ensemble Festival, 21 students earned top division (Superior) ratings! Congratulations and Go Lakers!

Bus Tracker has been deactivated, so please join the 1,372 families already enjoying the advanced features of BusZone. More families have downloaded the app but not finished the set up process so they are not getting notifications.

- know your student ID number from PowerSchool
- for elementary routes you need to know the route number and school name
- be sure to set up both AM and PM routes
- take advantage of the push notification feature.

Creating Caricatures Workshop
Wednesday, April 30 from 6pm-8pm
Main Library Youth Activity Center
Join Andrew Sigman of Sigman's Caricatures for this hands-on workshop. Every attendee will learn how to draw caricatures and will get their OWN caricature drawn by Mr. Sigman to keep. Whether you have art experience or not, this will be a fun and engaging time where everyone will get a chance to make quick and quirky art.

Free Comic Book Day
Saturday, May 3 from 2:30-4pm
Main Library – Youth Area
Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Library! Take some comics and make some comic-themed crafts. There will be a limit of two comics per person, and they will be available while supplies last.
For ages 5 years and up. No registration required
Pine Tree Reading Program
WBSD Elementary Schools welcomed Jarrett Lerner, an award-winning author-illustrator and creator of some of our favorite books! Pine Tree is a District-wide reading incentive program in partnership with the West Bloomfield Township Public Library, for students enrolled in first through fifth grade. A special thank you to West Bloomfield Township Public Library for sponsoring the author visit, providing the books, and collaborating to build strong readers!
In Case You Missed It
This semester WB Teachers Jennifer Graham and Kelli Mattson teamed up to connect 2nd and 9th grade Advisory classes. From writing heartfelt letters to exchanging personalized videos, students bonded in such thoughtful ways. And this week, they finally got to meet face-to-face over video! WB is proud of the kindness, creativity, and connection these students shared.
