We hope you've enjoyed the first few days of summer! In this newsletter, we're celebrating the MHS Class of 2024, as well as spotlighting the exceptional work of students in our classrooms and across our community.

Projects from last school year's bond elections are underway, and summer highlights include new playground shade structure installation, new furniture, flooring and casework replacements, track and field lighting at all five high schools, and more. Thank you, voters!

Casework (cabinets, built-in shelves, etc.) is being removed and replaced at Lamar Middle School; and furniture is being replaced at Briarhill Middle School, Lamar Middle School, and McAuliffe Elementary this summer.

Lewisville ISD’s Technology, Exploration and Career Center East campus (TECC-East) recently broke ground on its facility expansion. This construction was approved by voters in the 2017 bond election and will be the final major project from the 2017 referendum. READ MORE

Lewisville ISD announced on May 13 the appointment of Dr. Cody Koontz as the new Principal of Marcus High School. Dr. Koontz currently serves as Principal at the Coppell 9th Grade Campus, a position he has held since 2017. He takes over for longtime Marcus Principal Will Skelton, who was recently named LISD Chief of High Schools. READ MORE

Lewisville ISD students are seeing gold after the district recently hosted its 15th annual Job Olympics.

LISD high school students competing in the milestone Olympiad showcased their skills in events aimed to provide meaningful activities for students with a cognitive disability. LISD Life Skills courses available across the district provide opportunities for students to learn functional skills such as folding laundry, sorting mail, data entry, vacuuming and more. Students also learn effective tips for interviews and how to complete job applications. READ MORE

Ashleigh Barron, biology teacher and softball coach at MHS9, was named LISD's Secondary Teacher of the Year at the district's annual awards banquet. WATCH NOW

Timber Creek Elementary second graders put their financial literacy learning into practice by "buying" and "selling" homemade products during the campus's Market Day event. SEE MORE

Former Heritage Elementary Hawks returned to the campus for one last flight through the school before walking the stage at graduation.

Lamar Middle School students were celebrated for their achievements throughout the school year. Congratulations, Longhorns! SEE MORE

Graduating seniors and former Texans were honored at Prairie Trail Elementary's annual senior breakfast event. WATCH NOW

Highland Village Elementary and the HVE PTA celebrated the end of the 2023-24 school year with a foam party. SEE MORE

Briarhill Middle School inducted nearly 80 students into the National Junior Honor Society during a special ceremony held on campus. SEE MORE

Lewisville ISD’s Flower Mound Elementary School was recently recognized by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement. Flower Mound Elementary School’s successful implementation of the Professional Learning Communities at Work® process was a major contributing factor in the improved achievement of its students. Students in Ms. Marshall's music class at McAuliffe Elementary participated in a Mini Music Class talent show, showcasing their musical abilities. SEE MORE

Lewisville ISD announced the appointment of Glen Croll as the new principal of Downing Middle School. Croll currently serves as an assistant principal at Hebron High School. READ MORE

From Rubik's Cubes to LEGO, senior celebrations to puzzles and more, students at Bridlewood Elementary said goodbye to the 2023-24 school year in style! SEE MORE

The Recognize SomeONE submissions are pouring in, and we're sharing a few for teachers in the Marcus community. As a reminder, you can visit LISD.net/Recognize any time to submit your own encouragement for LISD staff.

• Anne Apperson, Marcus High School | "Anne is always such a huge help whenever it is needed. She is a technology pro, especially when it comes to helping get ready for STAAR. She helped to make sure that we were good to go as our students took the STAAR digitally for the first time this year. The Spring administration of the test went extremely smooth due to Mrs. Apperson's hours of work!"

• Shelley Blevins, Downing Middle School | "Mrs. Blevins has been a great support for our daughter (and her parents) this year! From answering questions during registration in 5th grade to adjusting her schedule at the beginning of the year to always being there for questions throughout the year, we appreciate all you have done! We are thankful for you and will miss you next year!"
  
• Joyce Kirk, Bridlewood Elementary | "When my daughter told me the story of anger soup, and showed me how to calm down by smelling the soup and cooling the soup, I literally was touched. She told me that Mrs. Kirk taught her this skill to calm down when she has emotions. This is such a cool skill and she will benefit from it for her life forward. Thank you Mrs. Kirk."
  

LISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) provide students hands-on learning to build the knowledge and skill necessary to be successful as they prepare to attend college, enter the workforce or enlist in military service.

Students from the TECC-West Culinary program recently competed in the annual Taste of the Cowboys cooking competition. WATCH

Lewisville ISD's TECC-East campus recently accepted the generous donation of a brand-new Lincoln Aviator from Ford Motor Company and Sam Pack Five Star Ford in Lewisville. READ MORE

Students from all five Lewisville ISD high schools earned professional certifications through the district's CTE programs. LISD professional partners have also already committed to hiring many students upon graduating, or after completing company-specific education or training courses.
