Looking Back on Last Week
St. Patrick's Day Morning Devotion
Mrs. Rice started our week off right with a special devotion about St. Patrick and how we are so blessed and not just lucky.
TVA STEM Grant
On Tuesday, BVI, TVA, and the Cullman Power Board presented a $5,000 STEM grant to Mrs. Griffin and CCS!
The grant was funded for CCS’s Project:CARE (Cullman Area Resource Assessment). Project:CARE will focus on researching and collecting data, sorting and deriving data, and then presenting and sharing that data as a community resource. The students are exploring the entities and organizations within the Cullman Community that provide significant impact on our local economy and critical infrastructures and contribute to our daily way of life. Identifying the value that these organizations provide to our community, what makes them successful, and learning the ways we can best support them, is giving our students an opportunity to empower the organizations that empower us.
Chick-fil-A Spirit Night
On Tuesday night, PTF hosted a Chick-fil-A Spirit Night. It was packed all evening with CCS families having loads of fun and eating great food.
The Miracle of a Seed
This week in Pre-K 3, students learned about plants and how they grow from seeds. They read The Parable of the Sower from the Bible and talked about how our hearts are like soil—when we listen to God’s Word and follow Him, our hearts become “good soil” where His love can grow! To bring this lesson to life, students planted seeds and discussed how water, sunlight, and care help them grow, just like prayer, kindness, and learning about Jesus help our faith grow strong.
Making Bird Feeders
3rd graders had a fun time this week learning how to make bird feeders.
4th Grade Reading
4th graders have been reading The cricket in Times Square and everyone made a cricket cage to look like the cage Chester cricket lives in.
Duck Hunt
Lower school students had fun with a “Duck Hunt” in PE classes on Friday to end our Kids Heart Challenge.
Jump Rope Ninja Winners
PE student winners from the Jump Rope Ninja contest received their dress down prize passes.
Camp Out Fun
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Borden's class had a great time this week during their "Camp Out and Read" time on Friday.
Upper School S.E.W.
Upper school students and teachers spent the week diving deeper into studying God's word during Spiritual Emphasis Week. During the week students meet in small groups where we discussed the importance of sharing the truth of the gospel in love. The week also included fun activities and special worship times that were led by students.
The week kicked off with an encouraging message from Pastor Ellerbee from Christ Covenant. He posed this question to students, "Are you trying to win the argument, or win the person?" Through references to Christ's example in the Bible, students learned the importance of approaching others in love.
The week concluded with a time of reflection and sharing. A student from each small group served on a panel to speak about what they had learned throughout the week and how these takeaways will impact the way they act, think, and live.
Spring Formal
We closed out the week and started spring break with our annual Spring Formal for high school students. Students had a great time getting all dressed up, going out to eat, spinning around on the dance floor, and spending time with friends.
As a side, but very important note... We are so incredibly thankful for our students behavior during events like this. They are incredible! And, that is thanks to their parents. All of the students in attendance were so great! It was a fun night that started with prayer and ended with lots of smiles and happy faces. Thank you, parents for all you do each and every day. It shows in your children!
