FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Parents and Guardians
Thanks for all the support this week with attending conferences and going to our Book Fair. You'll find more great books at our online Fair, and all your purchases will benefit our school. Go to our Book Fair homepage for more info! Next week we will be finishing up conferences, so if you have not had a chance to connect with your child’s teacher, please reach out to set up a time and day.
Family and school connections are very important for a strong community and I am very fortunate to lead in a building where these connections are obvious in so many ways. Each week we have many volunteers supporting our school. We also have 17 CIHS students working in various classrooms with our teachers and students. Many of them are aspiring to work with children in the future, and it is a great way for these students to see the day to day operations of our classrooms to help them prepare for a future career.
Next Monday we will have our second PTO meeting of the year and I invite you to attend. It is a great team of parents that are focused on supporting our school and creating events for our families. Last year we had Reading Nights, Family Fun Day, and Morning with Santa to mention a few. The meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in Room 104 and last about 45 minutes. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Have a great weekend everyone. It looks like another beautiful one so I hope you and your family are able to get out and enjoy.
Take care,
Shane Dordal

PHYSICAL EDUCATION REQUEST
Parents and Guardians
My name is Mr. Kubesh and I am the physical education teacher here at IPS. During the course of last year and now this year I have noticed many students coming to PE class with Crocs or Hey Dude shoes on. This is a safety concern in class, they tend to fall off, even with the rubber backing they have and the hey dudes are way too slippery and flimsy. If your student needs to borrow a pair of shoes, we do have a limited supply in the gym they may use, however they need to have a pair of socks on in order to use them. If you could please make sure they either wear shoes to school or at least bring a pair of socks with them that would help your student and myself greatly.
Thanks,
Mr. Kubesh
HALLOWEEN PARADE
IPS will be having their annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31st! If you do not want your child to participate, please let the teacher know and we will have an alternate spot for them.
We are not allowing parents/families to attend but all of our IPS classes will be watching!
Please have students bring their costumes with them in a bag to school that day. Students will change back into their clothes after the parade is done. We do not allow students to show blood, or have any weapons with their costumes. Remember that our audience is young children - costume choices should be primary school appropriate. Thank you for helping make this a spooktacular event for all!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Birth Certificates
If you haven't yet done so, please submit a copy of your child's birth certificate. This is used to provide proof of Child's Age and Legal Name so the information in our system is accurate.
You may email a copy to ips-communications@c-ischools.org or drop it off in the office.
Pick Up and Drop Off

Health Office - Extra Clothes
At this age accidents and spills happen! When they do, it is nice for your child to have their own clothes to change into. Please always keep an extra pair of clothing in your child's backpack so that they can be comfortable in something that is familiar and fits them. Thank you!
Health Office - Immunizations
Immunizations are required by Minnesota law and must be completed before students can start school in the fall. Kindergarten, 7th grade and 12th grade students have several requirements. 7th grade students need to show proof of a Tetanus Diphtheria booster shot and meningococcal vaccine after the age of 11. These are required for all students grades 7-12. New in 2021, schools are required to report a second meningococcal vaccine for 12th grade students. This immunization can be given as soon as students are 16 years old.
A copy of the student's current immunization record must be on file at school PRIOR to the first day of school. Parents may file a medical exemption signed by a healthcare provider or a conscientious objection signed by a parent/guardian AND notarized. Please submit your child’s forms to the health office at their school.
IMPORTANT - By law, students will be excluded 30 days after the start of school, which means if students do not have current immunizations or a conscientious objection on file, they will not be able to attend school after October 16, 2024.
For a current copy of your child’s vaccination record call the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) at 651-201-3980 or your primary care provider.
Use this chart as a guide to determine which vaccines are required for school (online, home school, public, or private).
If you need exemption information, the Immunization Form (Immunization and Exemption Form) is available on the MDH website.
Isanti County Public Health has low cost immunizations available for infants, children, and adults who are eligible for Medical Assistance/MinnesotaCare, uninsured, under insured, or otherwise unable to access services. To schedule an immunization appointment at Isanti County Public Health or for more information, call 763-689-1711 or email ICPH@co.isanti.mn.us.
