Superintendent's Message
Thank you for your support as we have started this school year! I am excited to see the energy and enthusiasm that our students bring each day. We encourage parents to stay connected with their child’s education through ongoing communication with teachers and involvement in school activities. Together, we can create a strong, supportive environment that helps every student thrive. I look forward to working together to make this a successful and fulfilling year for all.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Dickerson

New Waiver Days
The 2024-2025 school calendar was approved earlier this year. We applied to IDOE for waiver days to provide Professional Development to our staff. On those days, students will NOT come to school and will NOT have e-learning to complete. In addition, we have eliminated our PM e-learning days.
Curriculum News
IREAD - 3rd Grade Literacy
Blue River Valley is committed to literacy. We revamped how we taught literacy in grades K-2 starting in the Fall of 2021. Since that time our staff has undergone Science of Reading professional development and been provided with resources to support our students. During the summer of 2023, BRV was given the opportunity to join the Indiana Literacy Cadre. Mrs. Robin Gregory was selected as our Reading Specialist at BRV. As a part of our agreement, she is required to support students by supporting teachers in the classroom. Mrs. Gregory works in the reading blocks as a partner to our staff members. She also meets with our K-3 teachers weekly to discuss reading strategies. BRV literacy rates continue to show growth. It does not go without notice that it is a team effort from our teachers, staff members, students, and families. Families, please continue to support our literacy efforts by requiring your child to read every day for at least 15 minutes!
Mrs. Robin Gregory, BRV Reading Specialist
Mrs. Jessica Parson, Literacy Project Manager at the Center for Excellence in Leadership of Learning
As a part of our agreement with the Literacy Cohort, Mrs. Gregory attends bi-weekly professional development and collaboration with other reading specialists in the area. We also have monthly site visits to see our literacy instruction in action. Each visit provides a time for "glows" (the great things that are happening) and "grows" (the areas suggested for improvement).
IREAD pass rates are determined by counting the number of students that passed IREAD in the cohort enrolled at BRV during the time of testing. Our cohort is determined by the students in one grade level. The students can pass in either of the 3 opportunities they are given to take the IREAD assessment. Those options include 2nd-grade spring, 3rd-grade spring, or 3rd-grade summer.
Students with a Good Cause Exemption (as determined by the special education case conference) are promoted to the next grade. However, ALL students' scores are included in the proficiency rates even if a Good Cause Exemption is granted.
