Rawhitiroa School Notices
Term 2 Week 2 Friday 9th May
New Court
If you haven't already seen it, come up to the school and have a look at our new court. Tiger Turf did a great job of installing this, and a big thank you to our sponsors of this project: Toi Foundation, Carbon Farming and Creekton Trust.
The students are really enjoying playing on the new surface.
School Disco
Friday 13th May 5-7pm at the Rawhitiroa Hall.
Gold coin donation.
Rawhitiroa School families only.
Year 5-8 Senior Camp Meeting
A meeting to discuss this year's senior camp will be held Tuesday 13th May in Kārearea Classroom at 2.30pm. I look forward to seeing you all there - Jan
Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day is about standing up and speaking out against bullying.
This is bullying of any kind, verbal, physical or on-line.
We are supporting this important message by holding a Pink Shirt Day mufti day on Friday 16th May. This will be a gold coin donation and everyone is encouraged to wear something pink.
Life Education Trust
Harold and the Life Education Trust Truck will be here next Thursday 14th May.
The program this year is around how do we know what other people may be feeling and how can our feelings influence the way we act.
Each class will get two sessions with Harold and the Life Education teacher during the day.
School Dropoff Times
Just a reminder that students should only be dropped off before 8.30am by arrangement. Thank you.
Smoke and Vape Free Zone
Just a reminder that we are a smoke and vape free zone here at school. Please do NOT smoke or vape on the school grounds.
Change of Clothes
Can we please have a change of clothes in our junior students bags. At this time of year they can end up getting wet or dirty whilst being outside at break times.
Milk Bottle Top Challenge
This term we are involved in a milk top recycling challenge! We want to collect as many milk bottle tops as we can. The STDC has prizes of up to $1000 for the school that collects the most.
Get the whole whānau involved. Collect the milk tops off empty milk bottles, give them a quick rinse, and then bring them into school and empty them into the collection bin at the office.
We accept all coloured tops from dairy milk and cream plastic bottles. Lids must be the standard size that would be found on a 1,2, or 3-litre bottle
Milk bottle lids are too small to be recycled through kerbside recycling. Often these are put back onto empty bottles and put in our recycling bins. This means the recycling is contaminated and cannot be recycled, instead ending up in landfill. We are here to help solve the problem!
