A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
Last year many families relayed that the multiple events on various days at the end of the year posed a challenge. This year, we tried to listen and adjust our calendar so we could include multiple events on the same day, when possible. For example, our K-2 concert is the same day as our Kindergarten Picnic on the Common. We have also added a new event, "The Celebration of Growth" for each grade (1-4) on the same day as the Grade 4 Moving On Ceremony. If you are a parent or family member with children in multiple grades, you can attend the end of year celebration all on the same day. This could look like an author's celebration or a portfolio share or a fun class game and party. This will differ in every grade and could look different within the same grade BUT what will be the same is the date, June 12. I wanted to highlight this in the list of dates in case you were wondering what this might mean!
With MUCH respect and appreciation,
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts
Field Day
Remember that May 31 is field day at RES!! Please have your child dress in comfortable clothing, wear sneakers or a shoe they can run safely in, bring a BIG AND FILLED water bottle, apply sunscreen and.or bug screen at home. You will probably want to pack an extra set of DRY CLOTHES for your child.
Also, we are doing an Olympic theme this year for field day. We are asking students from each grade level to wear a certain color of shirt that day. These represent the colors of the 5 Olympic rings.
All students will also be given a bandana that matches the grade level color to use in the "Opening Ceremony" and to keep.
The colors are:
Kindergarten is YELLOW
First grade is RED
Second grade is BLUE
Third grade is GREEN
Fourth grade is BLACK

Similarity Awareness #1: Northeast Passage
On May 7 & 8 all classes had a Similarity Awareness presentation from North East Passage. NEP is a company based out of UNH that provides adaptive sports and recreational activities to people in our communities. The presentation consisted of students learning about what adapted activities that are offered and discussing the reasons people participate in sports and recreational activities. NEP makes this possible for people that may need some small changes in the type of equipment they use.
Similarity Awareness #2: The Olympic Connection
As a group, students discussed the Olympics and the ParaOlympics. Do you know why they are called the ParaOlympics? The ParaOlympics take place 2 weeks after the regular Olympics in the same venues. Parallel to the Olympics. These athletes train and participate in the same sporting events with necessary modifications. A huge THANK YOU to the REF for bringing in this Similarity Awareness to our students!
Our Trip to the Seacoast Science Center
RJH Connection
In an effort to create a ONE STOP SHOP for families, we are now publishing the RES and RJH newsletter on Thursdays and sharing the link in one place:)

- Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.

First Grade-12:15-12:40
Second Grade-12:15-12:40
