Sneek Peek Into Next Week

We are very fortunate to have many very talented people on our staff. We started a morning mindfulness program a few years ago and it has really helped our teachers and impacted our students. Each grade level on different days spend 30 minutes with our guidance counselor, Ms. Trozzi and social worker, Kelli Wild to discuss emotional content from 7:10 to 7:40. They also touch on different topics to get them focused for the day. While our students are in morning mindfulness their teachers are team planning to have a launching point for Math and ELA. It has been very successful for us and we definitely appreciate everyone that is doing the extra to make our school great.

We had our first Dad's Club meeting last Monday, and it is a good start. Mr. Rudd is leading the group and they have come up with a few activities that we will be implementing so we can create opportunities to have that cherished family time. More information to come in upcoming newsletters. We will meet monthly,, and I personally am very excited about Mr. Rudd creating this opportunity for our families.

• September 18th- Patriotic Wednesday- Our staff dresses up in red, white, and blue. If you want to add something snazzy to the uniform for your child please do.

• September 20th- Latin America Puppet show continues.
• September 20th- Raise the Flags for the Bucs. Wear Bucs gear to root on the Buccaneers with jeans or your spirit shirt.

I was invited to attend the Hillsborough Education Foundation luncheon Tuesday, and our Superintendent about the key levers to a successful student. Two of the levers called out to me. The first was the importance of having high quality teachers in front of our students every day. We are blessed to have a full roster of teachers and staff. Our school is also in a location where our teachers could easily teach in Pinellas or Pasco and get paid more. They choose to teach at Claywell and we are very fortunate that we do.

The Superintendent's other key lever is one that we promote at Claywell all the time: Attendance. Our attendance continues to increase since 2020, and we appreciate the effort. I remember when I went to school it wasn't an option. My parents had me up and out of bed, and off to school. It is becoming important again and our staff appreciates seeing our students on a more consistent basis.

Students in grades K-8 are invited to design a bookmark using crayons, markers, colored pencils or paints on the theme of Our Hispanic Heritage. Please bring artwork to Ms. Christopher. Deadline for entries is Monday October 14th. Please see Ms.Chris, or home room teacher for entry form.

Each week one class with perfect attendance is selected for a pop up party. This week it was Mr. Gibson's class. I hope you enjoyed the lollipops. Regular attendance leads to academic success.

Our numbers are coming up. Let's keep going. We have 211 total members. We have all our staff signed up. We have 12 grandparents, and 156 parents. Let's keep going. It is $7 per person or $10 for the family. Please use the link on our website or send in the money in an envelope with your child and teacher's name. We will then take care of the rest. We will soon be awarding a Cougar Paw for each child that has family member that is a PTA member.

The district and sheriff's office have put cameras on the stop arms of all school buses. The firs month they sent out warnings. Starting September 12th, the warnings turn into tickets. The cameras have caught over 10,175 people bypassing the STOP arms. That is quite concerning to me and we are fortunate that no one has been hurt yet. Moving forward in the county they will be mailing citations to people who break the law. We need to keep our kids safe.
