GMS 8th Graders Visit Gettysburg and Washington DC
The Goodrich Middle School 8th grade class traveled to Gettysburg and Washington DC from May 4th-May 9th. During the trip, students Mo Collins, Meredith Dudas, Makayla Hart and Aubrey Stockwell honorably participated in a Wreath Laying Ceremony. They represented Goodrich Middle School at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery.
Students and chaperones enjoyed excellent weather as well as a variety of sites and activities while on the trip. Sites visited included: the Smithsonian, Pentagon Memorial, WWII memorial, the Vietnam Wall; Korean, Lincoln, and Jefferson Memorials, the White House, the Capitol, and Mt. Vernon. The group also enjoyed time on a dinner cruise on the Potomac River and their final destination, the Luray Caverns, which was new to this year’s itinerary.
This was the 15th year in a row for 8th grade class sponsors, GMS teachers Tena Czap and Dawn Robb, to coordinate and supervise the trip.
Students participating in next year's trip (current 7th grade students) will leave very early the morning of May 5th and return late on Tuesday, May 8th. Students will return to class on Thursday, May 10th.
