Mustang Nation!
This month, I’m excited to share three engaging books that tie into important themes we can explore together as a school community. These selections are perfect for sparking conversations at home and encouraging your children to connect with reading!
📖 Martin’s Big Words: The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Doreen Rappaport
As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this month, this beautifully illustrated picture book highlights his inspiring journey and the power of his words. Through simple, powerful language, young readers can reflect on the importance of equality, kindness, and courage.
📖 Groundhog’s Day Off by Robb Pearlman
This fun and witty story gives Groundhog a whole new spin! Instead of predicting the weather, Groundhog decides to take a much-needed break. This laugh-out-loud tale is perfect for students who love humor and a little mystery as the town scrambles to find a replacement.
📖 Melt by Ele Fountain
In this thought-provoking chapter book, two students from vastly different backgrounds are brought together in an Arctic village as they face the impacts of climate change. With adventure and heart, this story explores themes of resilience, community, and friendship, making it an excellent read for older students.
I hope these selections inspire your child to dive into a new story and spark meaningful conversations at home. Be sure to visit our school library or check them out at your local library!
Happy reading,
Kimi Williams

Keep Klein Safe
We take all reports very seriously, please talk with your child about the importance of reporting and not spreading rumors.
Klein ISD and Hildebrandt are committed to the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. A comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) has been developed to address the four phases of emergency management: prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Various drills such as fire drills, severe weather drills, and intruder drills are examples of measures taken by campuses to prepare students for an emergency. Additionally, Klein ISD maintains its own police department and the district cooperates with local and regional emergency agencies to address issues related to incident management.
