Week Of October 7th
Student ID cards must be carried at all times including to ride the bus
The new ID for Bus Transportation will go into effect on October 15th with full implementation on October 25th. ID cards will be required for all students riding the MSD buses; this does not include those on special transit at this time. There will be an active grace period until October 25, 2024 for drivers to allow students on a bus without their ID card or a valid pass.
Forgotten/Lost IDs…
If a student has misplaced their Student ID badge, they will need to have a replacement card issued to them. School bus operators will issue students who are unable to produce a card when boarding the bus in the morning with a one-time bus pass to be completed and signed by a school administrator to use when they board the bus again in the afternoon. This should be completed by the school using the information in ASPEN. If the student does not have a pass, they will only be allowed to board if an administrator is present. If the student is without their ID for three or more consecutive days, the school bus operators will be notifying transportation management to reach out to the school to have the issue rectified. See sample pass below.
Students on Incorrect Bus
Students may only ride the bus in which they are rostered to and may only board and alight the bus at their assigned stop.
If a student attempts to board the incorrect bus in the morning, the school bus operator will confirm the correct and stop location and time. If the bus they are supposed to take has not yet come, the student will be directed to the correct stop location and provided with the correct stop time. If the bus has come, the student will be allowed to board the bus and the school bus operator will document the incident.
If a student attempts to board the incorrect bus in the afternoon, the school bus operator will direct the student to the correct bus and not allow them to board the bus.
