A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
On Wednesday, March 22, all Sophomores and Freshmen will take the Pre-ACT test at FHS. This test has a direct link to the ACT taken by all Juniors in Wisconsin that is an indicator of college readiness. We know our students still have more years to grow and learn at FHS before the ACT and that the ACT is just one measure of college readiness. Other college readiness measures used by Franklin High School (initially defined by Redefining Ready a national initiative launched by the school superintendents association), include successful completion of Integrated Math 3, a grade point average of 2.8 or higher, and taking and passing an Advanced Placement test and/or course. Some career ready indicators include school attendance, community service, and community/work-based work experiences.
Please encourage your student to do their best on this test and continue to maximize every opportunity and moment they have!
You can also remind your student that during testing, they will be unable to access cell phones, electronic devices, and/or study materials. Freshmen and Sophomores are expected to bring their fully charged chromebooks as well as their charging devices.
Our students in grades 11 and 12 will be engaged in an asynchronous virtual day. Teachers will communicate learning expectations electronically.
Sincerely,
Mike Vuolo
IMPORTANT MARCH 22ND (WEDNESDAY) PRE ACT INFORMATION
On Wednesday March 22nd, all FRESHMAN AND SOPHOMORES will be engaging in the PreACT Summative Assessment. The PreACT Summative Assessment measures what students have learned in the areas of English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing. This measure is aligned to the ACT college readiness benchmarks and common core standards; the scores on this assessment predict how a student will perform on the ACT when they reach 11th grade.
All Franklin High School Freshmen and Sophomores are expected to report to Franklin High School to their testing rooms by 7:20 AM. During testing, students will be unable to access cell phones, electronic devices, and/or study materials. Freshman and Sophomores are expected to bring their fully charged chromebooks as well as their charging devices. The PreACT Summative assessment will be administered through an online platform available on all district devices.
A light breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 7:00 to 7:20 AM, prior to testing. Students will also have a break during the middle of testing and snacks will be provided during testing breaks. Those with extended time testing will have the ability to eat lunch as well.
All JUNIOR AND SENIOR students will complete classwork at home through asynchronous virtual instruction. Coursework can be accessed through Google Classroom for most classes.
Students with standard time will be dismissed around 11:05 am. Those with extended time will be communicated with separately regarding their end time. School transportation will be provided. Please reach out if there are any questions. Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Brian Karolewicz, Associate Principal
Joey Jonas, Associate Principal

PROFILE OF A GRADUATE SESSION ON TUES 3/21
As we shared in our District Newsletter a few weeks ago, The Franklin Public Schools Profile of a Graduate work represents our commitment to the development and growth of each student in the college, career, and life-ready skills they will need to be successful. The Profile of a Graduate provides transparency to all community stakeholders regarding the skills they can expect to see from every Franklin Public School graduate and promotes collective ownership of each student’s success. Finally, the profile will be used to drive change within our district through the alignment of beliefs, programming, and experiences that help students grow in these skills and dispositions.
Gathering input from our stakeholders is underway as part of our Profile of a Graduate district work including:
Spring 2022: Family survey feedback, team meetings to develop plan
January 2023: Survey feedback from grade 6-12 students, overview meetings with staff at each school building, small group meetings with high school students.
February 2023: Key Communicators Meeting : Share with about 50 internal and external stakeholders.
If you would like to get involved, we are holding an additional Profile of a Graduate parent/guardian stakeholder meeting this Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 4:30-5:30pm at the ECC District Office. Please contact Jessica Moe if you have any questions or would like to participate.

FRANKLIN HEALTH DEPARTMENT SEEKING PARENT FEEDBACK
The City of Franklin Health Department conducts a survey every few years about citizen desires for improvement within the city. We are following up on information from the last survey that shows parents are interested in social connection. We are collaborating with the Parent Network to create an event where families can share a meal while the children have supervised play so parents can discuss a variety of topics and connect.
Please take a minute to fill out the survey below. The survey asks your interest in participating in a Parent Cafés, best available time, and topic interested in. Your input is invaluable. Any participation is appreciated. Click here or on the image below to complete this minute-long survey.
