MHS Traffic Flow Updates
Car Rider Line Reminders
- First period starts at 8:10AM, which means your student should be in their 1st period class and ready to learn by 8:10AM. Our car rider line takes on average 7 minutes from the time you arrive on Pirate Nation Way, and most classrooms on our campus are a 3-5 minute walk from the front area. For this reason, parents are advised to arrive on campus by 7:55AM, earlier if your child wishes to eat breakfast in the cafeteria.
- Parents should not arrive to line up in the pick up line in the afternoon before 2:40PM. This causes traffic to back up onto Matanzas Woods Parkway.
- If you find yourself backed up on Matanzas Woods Parkway prior to dismissal, you are advised to pull off of the roadway onto the side of Matanzas Woods so as not to obstruct through traffic on that roadway. The FCSO has advised us that to stop on that road is a traffic violation
- Any parent who needs to sign their child out early must do so prior to 2PM.
- If you are in the car rider line, please pull all the way forward behind the car in front of you and do not stop on the curb to load/unload students until the traffic in front of you has stopped or you reach the flagpole.
- By 3:10PM the car rider line is typically cleared out, so if you arrive around that time you will have a minimal wait
Reminder - Forest Grove - Not a Pickup/Dropoff Area
Our neighbors have asked us to remind all parents that Forest Grove is not a designated pick up or drop off area. This area is for access of walkers and bike riders from the neighborhoods around Matanzas. All car riders should be picked up and dropped off on the sidewalk directly in front of the school, following our established traffic pattern.
Student Driver Updates
Parking Passes SOLD OUT
We have sold every space in the MHS parking lot as of August 30th. If you wish to purchase a parking pass you may visit the Dean's Office to be added to the waiting list. As students withdraw or have their parking privileges revoked, students on the waiting list will be offered the available spot.
Dismissal Traffic Pattern Update
Student drivers may now exit out of the front Pirate Nation Way Gate after 3PM each day. The swing gate by the gym will be opened daily by 3:05PM for students to be directed out of the lot. If you do not wish for your student to make the left turn onto Matanzas Woods Parkway, please encourage them to use this exit instead.
