Dear Parents/Carers,
I was so pleased and proud to receive a letter from Damian Hinds, Minister for Schools, this week in recognition of our Year 6 SATS achievements last year putting us in the top 1% of all Primary Schools in the country. I am sure you will agree that this is a huge achievement and one that arises not only from a dedicated, hard-working staff and pupils but also from the support that parents and carers give us from home. Thank you to everyone for your contributions towards these results; this is a huge Larks Hill team effort
Memorable Moments
There are always so many moments in our school day where the pupils at Larks Hill excel in all areas of our curriculum and as a result of this, I would like to start sharing some of those ‘Memorable Moments’ of the week with you.
Year 1 – Jude A
Jude came to see me with his English book this week as he was so proud of his learning. He was learning how to use ‘and’ in his sentences and stated, ‘I know how to use ‘and’ in my sentences Mrs Adams and I know that if I add some adjectives this makes my sentence even better!’ He then proceeded to show me how hard he is working on his handwriting and how much it has changed from the start of the year. What a super moment!
Year 1 – Chloe N
This week the children have been assessed in their phonics. Chloe achieved 100% in her assessment. Well done Chloe! Another amazing moment!
Year 3 – Corey J
At Larks Hill, one of our values is resilience. Corey came to see me to show me how resilient he has been this week amending his corrections in Maths. Well done Corey.
Year 3 – Scarlett P
In class, Year 3 are learning about plants. Scarlett was as proud as punch to show me a poem that she had written all by herself at home. This was a super memorable moment!
This Week
Mental Health Ambassadors
On Monday, our pupil Mental Health Ambassadors met to talk about how they can support other children across school. This is very important work and the pupils are stepping up to their roles and responsibilities extremely well.
KS1 Multi-Skills
On Wednesday, some pupils from KS1 attended a Multi Skills Festival at the A1 Football Factory and I am extremely and pleased to announce that they won the tournament! Well done to all those pupils who took part.
Cross Country
On Thursday 22 February our qualifying children attended the West Yorkshire School Games Cross Country Finals at Temple Newsam. Whilst our children did a fantastic job in the difficult weather condition they unfortunately didn’t qualify for the next stage however we are extremely proud of our children and their performance in the event.
